good thread, stoked that a couple of non port posters gave some love to robbie gray,

this kid is seriously talented, but as yet has not done a pre season with niggling injuries etc

remers and houli are even more of a steal when u think that they only gave up soloman to get them

Slightly harsh to be writing him off after two seasons. The hype on him was always a bit over the top but being a KPP he was always a chance to take a few seasons to find his legs.
Where did I write him off? Just pointed out that the way people were carrying on when he was drafted he should've been up there with Franklin by now. Of course he's had his injury troubles but he's played a few games this season and has been more or less unsighted in all of them.

just to add a bit about sellar he has actually been really struggling at SANFL RESERVES level
Umm, No he hasn't. But I will agree that most Adelaide supporters would be (very) disappointed with his development to date.

For Adelaide David MacKay has been fantastic and looks a premier midfielder in the making. For the rest of the comp Justin Westhoff, Alwyn Davey, Josh Hill and i guess even throwing in David Rodan as a surprise would be fair. Port and Essendon did very well with their picks.

What's up with that BTW? He was a better player as a 16 year old then he is as a 20 year old.

So saying he was overated before he was drafted is your way of saying he is some chance of making it ?

Yeah, i think its fair to say he has gone backwards. He's shown consistency since heading back to the Reserves, where he has mainly been used as a Ruckman. His use primarily as a ruckam may be contributing to his lack of growth as a potential KPF. He's been earmarked as a potential tall to come into Glenelg GF team this week, but i'd be surprised.

what about david rodan the last pick of the draft ;). I think Port Adelaide done really well because it picked up all capable players - David Rodan, Travis Boak, Robert Gray, Justin Westhoff, Nathan Krakouer, Paul Stewart, Mitch Farmer.

Agree Bombers and Port got some steals. In a year or two clubs will be wondering why they let Daniel Connors slip to 58. Shane Edwards (pick 26) playing 31 games in two years when he could still get a ride in the Grand National has been a top effort. Neither of these is a surprise in terms of talent but they still represent great value.

That whole draft was terrible for Freo. Collard, O'Brien and Mourish. Only one remains on our list and he is always injured
That's what happens when you trade away your top pick and best chance at getting a star.

I felt sorry for our recruiting staff during the CC years. He didn't leave them much to work with.

Everyone knows why clubs let Connors slip to 58, and I doubt many of them believe they were wrong for doing so.

2 Scott Gumbleton injury setbacks but will be a gun
8 Leroy Jetta very promising
20 Tom Hislop only question mark but still big potential
36, Alwyn Davey Speaks for himself
42, Bachar Houli potentialy the bast in the draft IMO
47, Kyle Reimers The new Aker

Potentialy the best drafting performance by a club since Geelong 2001.

And remember it was under K.Sheedy.

Get narky all you want, but Reimers doesn't have Aker's electric pace, freakishness, perfect skills off either foot or incredible goalsense.

I was talking more personality wise but also could as good a player just with different attributes.

The one thing they do have incommon on the field is their big game performance. i.e. goals when the game is on the line.

Port drafted Farmer last year.

Bachar Houli the best in the draft?

I wouldn't swap Mark Austin for Houli or Reimers...

Haha, if you say so.

Maybe in terms of ego, but as a footballer, isn't fit to tie Aker's bootlaces at this stage.

Myopia...

Houli was the best young player this season (along with Palmer) up until he was injured.

No?

OK, you keep Austin (who?) and we'll keep Houli and Reimers. We're perfectly happy.

Remember Reimers' three against your mob.;)
Two...Unless you're aggregating the score :p

I wouldn't swap Reimers for any of Carlton's young midfielders except Gibbs.

The piece of play against Carlton where he collected a half volley first time and had the vision and foot skills to land a lace out pass to Jetta was amazing.

Really? I could have sworn it was three.

The sealer, the nail in the coffin, the stake in the heart of Carlton's finals hopes should count as two.:D

Remind me who beat Carlton twice this season...thats right - twice.

Our team is just as talented as yours, don't delude yourself.
