Surjan three year contract

As much as everyone likes to scapegoat Pettigrew, our side didn't get any better when he was dropped, and Stewart had a fair few goals kicked on him in the same position.

He seemed to have some confidence issues this year and it did become apparent he wasnt at the top of his game, but the fact he was playing at less than 100% would have contributed.

I agree that its easy to lambast defenders when the side is going well, but when our midfield lacks defensive pressure its easy for defenders to look like spuds. Glad to hear he's signed on.

(PS I can see him being useful elsewhere on the field)

Pettigrew is the epitome of the guy that hates playing in defence, but gets put there anyway because he has done ok there a few times.

In other words he is a confidence player.

It's been said ad infinitum - He should be played in the same manner Brett Burton/Andrew Embley were played at their peak. Tall attacking wingman.

**** i love the doctor!!! onya surj one day I will hug you

hopefully carry plays on - he may not be in our next flag team but he has honestly been one of our biggest names and i'd love to see him play next year

fantastic!
was worried he'd leave but Surj has said from day 1 he is a Port man through and through and wants to play his whole career here
very deserving of it too

Petters im a bit surprised.... but agree with the sentiments about playing him AWAY from defence. He did show that he has the ability to play as a forward and is a very good kick for goal

Carr... well if he "retires" then surely Port wouldnt have to pay out anything??? All depends on how bad his ankle injury is really. i wouldnt mind if he stayed on and finished out his contract

Tredders... fantastic again and deserves another contract. Was our only forward to really stand up along with Gray

I agree with others.

I personally believe he could fill the same role John Anthony does for Collingwood. he's a great set shot, has excellent speed of the mark. He could play an excellent lead up forward.

Tredrea may halt Salters progress next season, which IMO would be a shame as they are like for like players IMO. Personally it's time to move on, so as long as our young forwards get priority and Tredrea knows this I am happy, I am sure he would be too.

Rumours, Surj wanted a trade were so far off the mark, it wasn't funny! Surj was & is going nowhere except Port Adelaide. He loves the place.

I think Pettigrew has to be played up forward, he still has upside & I would like to see Carr have one more year.

Would only have Pettigrew for 2 years if they plan to play him Forward!!
He will never be a defender, played a Key role in beating the Dogs in Darwin before his op. should have kept him there but sadly some clown thought he make a good defender:rolleyes:

Agreed !
While this is a thread on Surjan I'll keep banging on about the Grew going forward. Apart form the Dogs game I recall a game against St Kilda a few years back when he took some good marks and slotted a few goals.
Heck the guy is taller than Salter and quicker (no disrespect intended). He's not the defender Choco hoped for so try him up forward with Salts and Tredrea.
Of course that means no room for the Hoff.

Port aren't saying and the tiser isn't happy, even running a poll on whether we should be secretive.

PORT Adelaide defender Jacob Surjan has celebrated a breakout season by signing a contract extension at the Power.

The club won't reveal how long he has signed for as it has a policy of not revealing details of contract extensions, but AAP has reported it is a three-year deal.

It's the club's perogative.

I'm assuming it's 3 years and going on rhodes comments from the power website surj may be in the leadership group in the not too distant future.
