Umm, you sure?
He has had two consecutive weeks of six tackles a match, and has also had 8 tackles twice this season even though this year has been injury riddled with regards to Symes. Surjan is slow and has average skills, the only thing he has is courage and a bit of grunt. Not saying Surjan is cr@p, but Symes is clearly better imo.
Surjan if anyone has no defensive side to his game, has only gotten over 5 tackles once this season.

If you dont know what you are talking about best to not say anything otherwise you incriminate yourself. Slow ! What games are you watching? Surj is top 5 for speed at port.
Whats with the tackle count? Sometimes high tackle counts mean you are actually second to the contest and in catchup mode. Stats without visual dont impress.
In the yr Symes got traded, Surj finished =7th in B&F. Difference this yr is Symes is playing in a winning team whereas Surjan is not.

I wish Symes all the best (nice young man), he just didnt deliver to Port what Surjan has/can.

I know exactly what I'm talking about buddy, I watch most/if not all matches played on the weekend. If Surjan is in the top 5 in speed testing at Port, either your team is very slow or he struggles to read the game properly. Port fans suggesting that I and many other supporters from different teams are going Symes only because we hate Port are quite sad, I don't hold grudges against teams and put there football ability ahead of the teams I dislike/like like real AFL fans should. Jason Laycock got one of the best agility times at the draft camp a couple of years ago, yet he still looks slow on the footy field, with some people combining skill wth speed is a problem, so if you don't know what you're talking about, it's best not to speak and make yourself look silly.

Yes Port is one of the slowest teams in the AFL. Perhaps when you are watching "most/if not all" the games you will hear what the commentators are saying about Ports speed. Get a life dimwit

Danyle Pearce & Nathan Krakouer are the only ones with speed from your list in my opinion, who else do you think has outstanding pace at your club..? Boak's not overly quick, same with S.Burgoyne, Cassisi isn't & K.Cornes isn't, but they are classy players, no doubt, but speed is probably what they lack through the midfield a tad. And btw, I didn't say your mob has definitely got a slow team, I made it an option for the other person to reply with, either that or Surjan can't read the game overly well, tossbag.

Putting my Surjan unabashed bias aside, he is a far better player than Symes. Wins the hardball and shuts players down. Should be played in the middle instead of a defender.

You lost all credibility saying S. Burgoyne is not overly quick.

S Burgoyne not quick? I struggle to remember a playing ever running him down or closing down the distance between them...

As for the poll, they're quite different players.

Surjan has the advantage of being a better man-on-man defender, definitely more of a tough-nut. However, his kicking lets him down often - brad probably has the better kick.

He looks fast, but really it's his poise and composure that allow him ot have a fair bit of time, Dal Santo like, not his actual pace. Very strong aroud the hips as well, can shrug tacklers off in a heart-beat.
