i'm tipping swifty

had a disappointing 2010 season, but after a full pre-season he could really start to show the same form that he showed at the end of the 2009 season..... and better:thumbsu:

Tipping Swifty too. Shuey, Scooter to break out next year (though it won't be a surprise) and I expect Sheppard and Naita to become alot better without necessarily "breaking out".

Think Masten and Ebert will surprise us alot next season too. I'd really love Stevenson to come out and be a dead set gun though. Think he can be a fantastic wingman.

I'd say Koby Stevens, but it's not really going to be a surprise when he guns it in 2011 now is it ;)

Mcginnity.

Seriously though, if he can have a proper pre-season I think Weedon could break into the team maybe mid-year and surprise a few people.

Weedon needs to break into Claremont's team first. I also think Mcginnity will be in and out of the team. I know he is liked by the coaching staff but there is too much talent ahead of him.

IMHO likelyhood of surprising alot in 2011

Ebert - Think he is right on the edge of becoming a gun. Knows where to run, tackles hard and with a pre-season orientataed on improving his disposal eff. he could be on the path to greatness

Scooter - Will probably surprise the WCE faithfull less than those over East but has improved his disposal and decision making and late 2010 suddenly started to be in the right spot at the right time.

NicNat - Same as Scooter, will finally proove to the rest of the country why he will be the dominant ruckman in the league for the next 7-10 years.

Swift - WCE seem to get alot of players that take 3-4 fit years in the system to mature to AFL level. If he stays fit will be awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised if Weedon was transferred to a different wafl club. Regardless, if he gets a proper pre-season he should be able to break into the league team, and then mid-late season get a game for us.

I was joking about McGinnity.

If you can't crack it into a league side - then you're not good enough for AFL.

It's not as though he's playing Ruck with only 1 or 2 positions available - he's playing mid/hff - where there is a dozen spots.

I agree with the comments on Weddon. Needs to request a transfer to a team where he can play cionsistently good WAFL league footy before being any chance in the AFL. Could create a attract a lot of interest amongst other WAFL clubs

Think Neates will suprise early. Depends on what happens with Hams but if Neates fit and had a good pre-season he will definately be in the mix for Round 1 selection

Swift is a real good chance to come on. I know he gets criticised a lot for slowness, and atm that is fair criticism, but if he improve his deficiencies he's got a lot of upside. Was ranked very highly by one of the greats of the game (Voss) only what 4 or so years ago. That got cut down with bad injuries. I love that he wants to take the game on. If he can continue to do that and be sucsessful with it more often than thats a weapion for us

Masten will improve if he gets more midfield opportunities and doesnt get wasted inside 50. Ebert i'd say jury is still out atm. I'd rather see Masten and Swift come on before him but, because knowing our luck he'll become a really good player than request a trade back to SA

If Ebert can do a Rosa and improve his disposal he will be a gun. Every other part of his game minus pace is excellent.

I think Masten will prove a lot of doubters wrong if he gets opportunities in the middle. That 38 possession game with c.80% efficiency shows what he is capable of, and experience is all about consistently showing your best. So much more dynamic and classy than guys like Priddis and Selwood.

Swifty is of course another one. The problem i see with swift, especially in regards to his much maligned awareness and tendency to get caught is that due to his time out with knee injuries, he had to go from playing under 16's straight to playing WAFL seniors, then to AFL, so he has had very little time to adjust. With more games in him this should improve and he should be the gem everyone said he should be.

If I could choose two players to make substantial improvement, it would be Swift and Masten. I don't think it's an unreasonable hope either, given both have shown patches of very good footy.

I expect NN to continue his very good work in the ruck and to become more dominant in the forwardline. I can see him consistently sitting on opponents' heads in the goalsquare.

I'm not too concerned about Weedon's development considering we now have Strijk, Hams (when elevated) and LeCras as forwards offering midfield rotation.

I'd like to see Sheppard follow his current trajectory of improvement.

In terms of surprise packets, Neates is probably as good a pick as any, I reckon. He has a bit of dash and uses the ball tidily. From the little I've seen of him at Claremont, he looks nice and composed too, which should help him make the jump to AFL.

Going by end of last season Scooter will be an elite player he really suprised me last year and he will only get better.

Masten will prove his worth and the Palmer vs Masten debate will die tbh Masten has shown he is more Valuable than him anyway.

Sheppard will improve alot but will probably break out in 2012

Masten and Ebert have their excuses years now behind them, they have games under their belt and now you either can or you can't.

Ebert just has to fix his disposal.

Masten really needs to step up now and be the player we thought we drafted.

As for Swift, I do not see at all what many of you are seeing. Yes he is young and has had injuries which do not help and i hope the kid does make it.

Just that right now I see nothing at all for us to be excited about with him. I would be suprised if even Claremont are that excited about him.

Shepherd is already better than all 3 of these guys, managed right will be a future a grade player for us.

Shuey for mine, has been unlucky so far but hopefully can play at least 20 this year.

Love to see strijk rotate a little in the middle too -not sure he has the tank yet but just looks like kerr at times.

Wilson - want to see him play and stay at FF see how many goals he can kick.

and on that note - Lecras to move more to HF too play more midfield which will be a surprise - just not sure we have another small forward yet

Scott Selwood. I've only seen him tuck the ball under his arm once or twice so far but he is quick ! He could turn into the excitement machine WC want. Worsfold singled Scott and Naita as the two that will lead the Eagles up the ladder.
