where you impressed at all? chance to get a game next season? or was that just BF talk.
I was impressed. I do believe he's a realistic chance to get a game in 2011. His run and carry stands out. I would've liked to have seen him play more as a FP.

good :thumbsu:

i saw footage of him, it was the final like a year a go. he took on the whole field almost and kicked an amazing goal.

yeah, guessing he played in the midfield for claremont. less likely to get a game for the eagles though if eh plays in the FP. least in the middle he will get more stats then we can play him in the FP.

I was always of the impression that Neates was drafted as a FP. He plays as a midfielder for Claremont, but I don't see Neates breaking into the team solely as a midfielder.

With Hams unavailable for the first half of the season due to being a Rookie, Neates may get his chance in a FP.

yeah i understand, but Neates isn't going to get a game for the eagles averaging 8 touches a game in a FP.

least if he gets time in the middle and kick some goals he is more likely, then when he comes into the eagles side play him at the FP.

Gonna suck waiting for hams to come into the side

Howdy,

My 2-cents...This year I'm hoping our midfield heads towards becoming a powerhouse running unit lead by youth (and DK!) with a play on at all cost attitude. Our list atm has a lot of young guys with speed to burn and we need to take advantage of this.
Without being too over confident on next year, I can see us finding the next level as a team required to climb the ladder. With guys like shuey, shep and stevenson to name a few to fill the roles of feeding our forward line with the lace out disposal we so desperatly need. Our forward line is purring along nicely, we only need a cpl small fast wirery pockets/hff and a big bad bustling Nicnat to find his aggressive dominant side to take pressure off JK and lecca!
I believe our current back line has the all the attributes to become a strong fast and dominent unit that is required in todays game, the only thing missing is the confidence and dare I say arrogence to take tha game by the scruff (ala 92-94 years). Im thinking they (backline) needs to find their inner mongrel, maybe a few rounds in a boxing ring will bring out there wild side?.

I believe the key to our resurgence will lie in the hands of the guys outside the 22!

Welcome, nice post.

Brown, MacKenzie, Waters, Brennan & Schofield all have some fight and mongrel to them.

Hurn really annoys me, he has a solid body and doesn't use it at all. He really needs to find some aggression because he can cause some damage.

Perhaps someone needs to punch Hurn in the chops before a game. That will make his blood boil. He'll be seeing red after that. That will give him the agro to go out there and inflict some damage.

He took a guy out in the Port Adelaide game and then got suspended. Probably dented his enthusiasm a bit.

What sucked about that was that the hit was soft and the intent to damage wasn't there, but he still got done. I suppose that's more an indictment on the soft modern version of Aussie Rules that's sought after by the AFL, who introduced this hands off Netball style, rather than on Hurn himself.

Hurn should be using his bulky size and strength to best legal effect. This is one area where he should have an advantage on the blokes he plays on. If he had the mentality of Waters, he'd be fearsome.
