This in my opinion is why Survivor has jumped the shark a long time ago. I miss the finale these days and I am like "Oh no. Anyway"

Maybe irrationally, but weakest season of the new era for mine and maybe one of the weakest all up (excluding the problematic seasons).

Also kinda lukewarm on Riz? Felt like a guy who was auditioning for 50. Does have a fair bit of showmanship but how much did he benefit from the rest of the tribe being more comfortable in the idol you know, and Savannah's immunity wins.

Can't really fault Savannah's win. Can't wait for Survivor 51 when someone at final three reveals they had been in a coma for 30 years and only woke up the day before they all flew to Fiji.

I don't think the others were comfortable at all in knowing he had the idol. Getting him to flush the the idol was a constant theme

He had 2 votes total on him since merge, for an idol everyone knew about even before then.

The Javan vote was the only one where there was some intention, but even then he had just one vote on him and he fake played the idol to Savannah anyway.

Can't claim to wanting him to flush the idol, when you don't actually put any sort of numbers to actually threaten him.

If everything we hear from players is how they want to flush the idol then they clearly aren't happy with him having it. They were just never good enough to do it

Still reckon if Sophie had of stolen Rizo's idol with the KIP instead of wasting it, she could have had a good winning shot, thought she handled herself ok at the final tribal, just that one big move might have done it for her.

They really polish up the runners up edit at final tribals now. The jury and/or Savannah had to have ripped her a new one for playing that wrong, surely. I was flicking between the big bash and the finale so might have missed it but wasn't raised at all in what I saw.

Savannah was a worthy winner
Her, Ris, Sophx2 were all old school players who made for good tv

Glad Sage’s “Thank you for your service”schtick didn’t work at the final vote

Savannah a very worthy winner - dominated the social, mental and physical aspects of the game this season. And convincing everyone else that yellow Sophie was a challenge beast after only one challenge win, but then going on to win 4 of the next 5 herself (including two while yellow Sophie was still there) was something that she could've used to push her case further at final tribal. As it turned out, she didn't need it ... comprehensive winner.

I counted at least 5 occasions ... it might've even been 6 or 7 ... leading up to tribals where blue Sophie mentioned that she was considering blindsiding Savannah. Maybe she should've actually made a move, as she did SFA for the rest of the season.

I'm not buying into all of the negativity - the show still works well for me.

The final tribal was a perfect summary of the season, shit.

Very similar to 44 in that I can see why Jeff loved watching the underdogs prevail live but the editing took away any sort of tension

What a shitty season. I despised the arrogance of Savannah and Rizo but could see a mile away that one of them was winning, even without knowing both are back for season 50. Which I don't know if I'll watch with that casting.
