I note that Mitch Brown is playing for Melbourne this afternoon. Originally selected at pick 15 by the Cats in the 2008 national draft, he is lacing on the boots for just game number 76 in his 13th season.

To provide some context, Steele Sidebottom, taken at pick 11 in the same draft, has played 247 games in that time.

Kudos to Brown for surviving in a cut throat environment. Who else has occupied a list spot for a lengthy period without clocking up many games?

Shaun McKernan from the same draft is on 90 games.

Makes you wonder whether there is indeed enough talent to support further expansion.

Two more teams, Eddie reckons?
Hard to think there would be enough talent to support 20 teams. Certainly wouldn’t add to the standard based on the decade that the Suns and Giants have had.

Harley Bennell played 88 games in 10 seasons.

From the same draft, Gaff played 215, Darling 214 and Atley 214 games in the same period.

He has probably played a lot of games now but Carlton are just treading water if Liam Jones is still in the side.

Luke Lowden one game in 8 seasons where he kicked 3 goals against Naitanui and Cox.

For a few years Geelong supporters would come over to the Dogs board during trade period and try to upsell us on the befits of Mitch Brown.

I guess tall guys really do take longer to develop.

Sam Reid as the commentators always point out, drafted #35 2007 Dogs, Recruited by GWS 2011, delisted 2013, coached 2014/15, rookied for 2016 season up to 96 games so far and with the hamstring injury will miss several weeks but most supporters will cheer him to the 100 game mark just hopefully he isnt the medical sub to get him there

Agreed. Would be good to see him notch the ton.

The bar is set extremely low for ruckmen.

Daniel Currie - 10 years on an AFL list for 10 games
Sam Naismith - 9 years on an AFL list for 30 games

We've had plenty.

Has played 70 odd more games than Brown despite being drafted in the same year.

He's well behind some of the best players taken from that draft, but he's probably not the best example of what the OP is looking for.

Ruckmen own this. There's a fair few floating around that have done nothing for years.

Zac Smith, Keegan Brooskby, Tom Campbell, Archie Smith etc

Wow - Lin Jong is still around? Can remember him being talked up as a fantasy breakout prospect years and years ago

So the formula for a tall is to go to Essendon as the second/third club

Wright will be very happy with his choice.

Semi honourable mention he's retired now but I have no idea how Adam Pattison got to 7 years across 3 different clubs for 66 games.
61 of those games were for his first club Richmond.
