i saw the incident on saturday involving heath black and clarke form hawthorn and as a result young clarke will be out for the rest of the season which means he will miss the finals.now the question is should heath black get suspened for the rest of the season? if you like call it an eye for an eye approach?the act was pretty much deliberate and due to this act clarke will miss a chance to play in the finals.
before you freo fans jump on me im just using black as an example i mean if lloyd.s act resulted in fletcher being out for lets say 4 weeks should lloyd get 4?
your thoughts
cheers!

Glad a neutral supporter brought up this topic, because it's an incident I'm still fuming over some 2 days later (actually I'm fuming over the whole game, but that's beside the point).

The incident occurred right in front of where we were sitting and would be right up there for one of the most GUTLESS acts I have ever seen on a footy field. Heath Black had already been reported for wrestling, and obviously decided to prove what a tough man he was by decking one of the lightest guys in the league behind the play.

I hear he has a groin injury anyway, I hope it's incredibly serious and he misses the rest of the season, and then some of next year too, because gutless pr!cks like him don't deserve to playing AFL football.

And in response to your question Tiger of Old, he should get 4 weeks at least.

i can understand your emotion here GH you have too feel for young clarke ya train ya guts out all pre-season then play your heart out all year with the ulitmate aim to play finals football and BANG its over in a deliberate act.to qualify what i asked is only if an incident is proved to be deliberate not accidental or just a lazy tackle.
cheers!

I hope he misses none of next season! Richmond need as many of their players fit as possible! :D

*LOL* This is what someone wrote on the Dockers website.

"What did Heath Blacj get reported for, he just delivered a good shirt front. Any time a Docker gets physical the umpires pull out the book." Disappointing comment indeed. Let's see how the Dockers feel in 5 years time when they are near finals time and one of their players is put out for the season in an illegal off-the-ball incident.

Turns out young Heath has not one, not two but THREE charges to defend.

Black has been reported for striking and wrestling with Richard Vandenberg and striking Tim Clarke during the Dockers' breakthrough victory over Hawthorn at Colonial Stadium on Saturday.

There's certainly going to be a fine for wrestling and do you honestly think he'll get off TWO striking charges on two different players? :D

Also interesting to see Adam Yze on report for charging Timmys older bro David - I hope Georgie was under protection over at the Athletics Championship :p

But, they got tough for a change, and ended up with the 4 points. And in the scheme of things, that's what really matters for Freo this season.

Meanwhile, I won't be too upset if Blacky's missing next week :D

I havent seen the incident yet.But I cant remember the last time Freo got off lightly if at all for a striking charge.
He is gone and chances are he will cop the maximum suspension.

Was his strike as bad as loyllds??

Your dreaming if you think he deserves to get suspend for the rest of the season and some of next

Crikey, I think you guys should all take a deep breath here.

We've all seen plenty of late tackles, you probably get one or two per game. It can be obvious when a player deliberately plays the man and commits to contact, thats clearly what Black did. It was definitely a reportable offence and I predict he will get two weeks or more.

However, I don't think Black intentionally tried to injure the player badly enough to finish his season.

Black should get 3 to 4 for the strike on Clarke.

Well in another baffling desicion, he got off on that charge (not that I am complaining mind you! ;) ) And got one week for the frivilous throw of the arm at vandenberg ... don't tell me even the tribunal enjoyed the upset win and trated the dockers fairly!?!

Nah, now I am just being silly! :D

Excuse me while I blow my top

1 week!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And not even a thing for hitting Clarke high behind play and breaking his collarbone. What a F**KING disgrace!!! I'm sick of the ridiculous inconsistency shown by the tribunal this season.

If that strike wasn't worth AT LEAST 2, if not 3 weeks, then what the hell is? On that basis Matthew Lloyd will have to be cleared, because his hit on Simon Fletcher was far less forceful than Black's hit on Clarke.

I'm just amazed that players will receive 1 or 2 weeks for a little tap to someone's guts, yet when someone is put in hospital from a late hit, the AFL tribunal decides it's all good for the game.

Not one person, Freo or otherwise thought he should be cleared. yet he gets a week for striking Vandenburg! Even more baffling, he is cleared of wrestling (at the same time he struck the Butcher), yet Vanders is found guilty and fined!

   A very very annoyed Hawthorn supporter.

:

That part was because the umpire said Vandenberg was the agressor in the wrestle.

Well an umpire also said Black hit Clarke behind the play...yet they decided to ignore that bit of information. I still can't believe he got off, it was the most blatant hit I have seen all season.

P***ED OFF! One bloody week! What a croc! The trib is just a heap of crap! Did they actually see what Black did to Clarkey? And he doesn't even get charged for that! There are really not enough words to describe my disgust!

But hey, I'll give it a go:

The trib. is: useless, ineffectual, worthless, valueless, good-for-nothing, not worth a pinch of s***, bodgie, draffy, dreggy, duds, pathetic, jerry-built, trumpery, warby, condemnable, effete, on the blink, otiose, waste, abortive, Sisyphean, superfluous, unfair, inofficious, invidious, wanton, biased, foul, objectionable!

And that's all I can say for now, because I'm going to lunch!

NOT HAPPY!

I know it was a pretty nasty bump because I was also at the game and saw the incident, but you would have to say that clarke, apart from maybe Hird, is one of the most fragile players in the competition and i think he only weighs about 65kgs, so it wouldn't have to be the hardest hit to put his shoulder out.

I don't think heath should be out for the rest of the season, I think he will get 1 week for the bump, and we will see how he goes on the other charges.

Not sure where you have been (or even if you read this entire thread! ;)) but Heath Black got off on the charge on clarke, and the wrestling with vandenberg - but did cop 1 week for 'lashing out' at vandenberg as he got up ...
