I wonder if he ever showed Rod Stroud?

Anyways, the one time I visited, I get talking to this bloke hanging upside down. Hes a cop training at Bob Jones Corp. Not the only one either I presume.

A teenage boy has been charged with murder after a Church of Scientology member was stabbed to death at the organisation’s Australasian headquarters on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

The 16-year-old, who is the son of a Scientologist, has now been charged with murder, common assault (DV), common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

It is now understood the boy — who is not a member of the church himself — wanted to stop his Scientologist mother undergoing a a controversial and intense “purification” process that claims to rid the body of drugs and toxins to reach a spiritual high. They'd had an argument about this the night prior.

The boy is accused of stabbing a 24-year-old man in the neck with a large kitchen knife while being escorted from the Scientology centre in Chatswood on the afternoon of January 3. The incident is alleged to have occurred on the driveway to the church after the 16-year-old was asked to leave.
Police said the teen was escorted from the premises — and as he was taken down the road a 25cm “very sharp kitchen knife” was allegedly produced.

The victim, Taiwanese national Chih-Jen Yeh, subsequently died in hospital.
A 30-year-old man also suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The Purification Process

According to the church’s website, the ritual “enables an individual to rid himself of the harmful effects of drugs, toxins and other chemicals that lodge in the body and create a biochemical barrier to spiritual well-being”.
“We live in a chemical-oriented society. Virtually everyone is regularly subjected to an intake of food preservatives, pesticides, atmospheric poisons and the like,” it reads. “Add to this the panoply of medical and street drugs generally consumed and the gravity of the problem becomes obvious.
“These drugs and toxins can put an individual into a condition which not only prohibits and destroys physical health, but which can prevent any stable advancement in mental or spiritual well-being.”
However, the ritual, which costs church-goers thousands of dollars has been debunked by independent doctors and, in a an investigation by the New York Press some explicitly described it as dangerous.

Followers take courses in purification to rid them of “toxic residues” and attend “auditing” sessions costing thousands of dollars to help them overcome their past and ascend to a higher level of existence.
This involves a tightly supervised regimen of exercise, sauna and nutrition.

I don't know what he was doing wrong at the time to be handled by Scientology goons and escorted from the building and away from his mother but I think a 16 year old might have been better dealt with.

I haven't read extensively on this yet but it looks like the organisation has gone into damage control putting pressure on for these other charges that appear to be related to the night before and if they are, should have been dealt with by the police then. 'common assault (DV), common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray'.

The Australian Federal Police are investigating after suspicious packages were delivered to international consulates and embassies across Melbourne and Canberra.

At least 13 consulates in Melbourne have been affected, along with currently unnamed embassies and consulates in the ACT, the AFP has confirmed.

“The packages are being examined by attending emergency services. The circumstances are being investigated,” the official statement reads.

Workers are reportedly being evacuated across town, among the embassies impacted believed to include the American, British, Indian, Italian, New Zealand, Korean, Egyptian, Pakistani, Greek, Spanish, Japanese, Thai and German consulates after hazardous materials were discovered just before 2pm.

On the Emergency Victoria website, there have been more than 13 “Hazardous Material” alerts listed since 2pm.

Looks like someone's gone to a bit of trouble. Not sure the Kiwis should be in there, they're 'greener' than us and don't cause us any harm. That could also be what they want us to think...

Better to have Kiwis in Melbourne than the riff raff from interstate. :D

More than twenty packages now in both Melbourne and Canberra. Lot of trouble, this could be a dry run to test the response.

I am more concerned over the political implications behind this. There have been rumblings on the Politics board over something like this happening to take the focus from the poor polling currently.

So I hope its real and yet I dont.

I'm floored that they found Jayme Closs alive today. I thought she was dead for sure. It will be interesting to see who the suspect is who kidnapped her.
Same! I started a thread on it. 21yo guy apparently had her held in a cabin about 10 miles away.

Not much info yet but it might be he killed her parents to take her.

EDIT: Conflicting info, she was about 70 miles away.

Is it strange that there's been no news about this since it broke on 5 Jan?
Media don't report suicides, as it always results in spates of suicides. So if the media hasn't followed up, it'll be a good guess that it was deemed to be a suicide.
