They're like the Victorian Libs. They're in policy paralysis. It's really poor polling
I find is astounding they have no clear communicated policies
Their rank and file have become so extreme they can't put together a policy which they would agree to but would also win votes.
And when the leadership listens to them and then tells them their policies are unpopular, the rank and file blame the leaders.
Sky News are the megaphone for these people. "If we just get more extreme all these quiet Australians will join us". Despite this failing for multiple elections and in multiple states, decisively.
What has happened in a macro sense is that the party is no longer well-aligned with previously- aligned interests.
The media used to try to have broad appeal, now it just tells what customers it has left what they want to hear. Rich donors like Gina and Gerry Harvey used to be able to convince people that trickle-down economics would work for voters (and therefore Liberal MPs). Now nobody's buying it. And these rich donors are blaming the people "for being wrong" which alienates voters, viewers and previous party members even more.
The Liberal Party is trying to work with a media who only want to appeal to a small portion of the population and big donors who agree with them. If this were a proportional democracy, they'd stand a much bigger chance. But under this system, they're doomed.
