Is that the guy who shot Trump?....

Oops, wrong thread....

I think an under appreciated aspect of Lobbs transformation into the games best CHB over the past month or so.

I had been thinking his days were well and truly numbered after that Brisbane game. Happy to see the big fella turn things around and thank **** the MC actually did something good with putting him in the defensive arc.

On another fan forum after watching our demolition of the Cats at Sleepy Hollow, I made the statement that if we delivered that sort of complete team effort and buy in over the next 10 weeks, everyone else may as well be playing for 2nd place.

Today just added more evidence to that belief - the only team that can stop us now are ourselves, either by getting ahead of ourselves and the associated drop off in work rate (see exhibit A v Port Adelaide) or via the dreaded injury bug.

Confidence can move mountains and right now Whitten Oval is overflowing with it.

Bramble was sensational. He’s not as electric as JJ at his best, but he’s giving us some spark off half back, whilst also being reliable at the defensive side. Coffield very solid again, dependable. You can’t have too many smart footballers.

The midfield structure is much better than earlier in the year, or last year. We’re not leaving a gaping out hole out the front of centre bounces any more. The mix with Bont, Libba, Treloar and Richards is great.

English was fine today. Broke even with Grundy around the ground and was part of our defensive wall. That’s about as much a you can ask for. Grundy smashed him in the taps as expected but he’s not very sharp with his tap work so I don’t think it made any difference.

Happy for Jamarra to get some reward the last three weeks. And likewise very happy with Naughton’s work at true CHF even if he isn’t getting amongst the goals every week. The separation between them now is paying dividends for both and the team.

Jones was incredible in the first quarter. They just could not get past him. Wouldn’t have thought he’d missed a minute. Lobb also very good again. Will be interesting to see him and Jones on a bigger ground and whether they might get caught on spread/turnover occasionally. Although Jonesy is still quite quick and Lobb’s endurance is elite. Can we quietly wind back that Barrass offer?

Very happy for McNeil to kick a couple. I always thought his speed and pressure/tackling were good, but those shanks in front of goal were horrendous. I think I was more optimistic about him than most, but even I conceded earlier this year when he wasn’t getting games that he was probably done. Hope he proves us all wrong and keeps his spot. Still only 22.

Never seen a player whine as much during a game from his own mistakes as Errol Guldon. What a little bitch. Was horrible all day and still complained

He sprinted over the mark like an 8 year old, then complained about it to the umpire all the way as he ran back. It should have been a double 50.

Bont Libba Treloar and Richards made Warner and Heeney look second rate.

I don’t rate Mills at all either - have no idea what sorta player he is.

Parker needs a fresh start too.

They really got lucky last time we played them, Ed & Astro proved that today.

Pardon for visiting, want to give my props and respect to Bevo, haven't seen such an under pressure coach turn his teams fortune around since Laurie Holden

Moving Ed Richards into the midfield this season and the weekly improving Rhyle West as a damaging small foward has been sensational, as has throwing the Lobbster down back.

He is bit of a different fellow to most other coaches, but clearly Bevo loves your footy club and players and is a winner, and I am glad he is winning your trust and faith back.

He is one of footy's truly decent and authentic people imo.

We were on from the first bounce, my word our defence was impressive. Buku floating down the line daring teams to kick to him was great.

What an opportunity Friday night, can end Melbourne’s season for good but more importantly can put ourselves 4th and place the pressure on all the teams yet to play.

Loved the win but gee the commentators are interesting. All three of these immense games have ended with commentators saying:

“We’ll that’s just very not like the <Carlton/Geelong/Sydney> we are used to seeing. Gee you’d have to put it down to an aberration to get beaten like that… etc etc…”

You’d think by todays game they might be able to look past their own navels and realise their could be a common denominator?
Spot on. I posted almost exactly the same sentiments in the What They're Saying thread. Hopefully they'll read one or both of those posts and write it up.

I thought it wouldn't be possible to match or even better the excitement I felt on GF day in 2016. For the past eight years I've always thought any future GF we make will obviously be awesome but couldn't possibly rival 2016...

Well, I can say with certainty that if we somehow defy the odds again and win this year's premiership, it will eclipse the joy I felt in 2016.

Regardless if we make the GF, I am guaranteed a ticket.

My seven-year-old was fortunate enough a few weeks ago to be announced as a NAB Auskicker of the Year member. This means he gets to present a medal on Grand Final day. He gets to take a parent (me) to share in his special day.

My goodness, I tell ya what. If I get to see my son hand a medal to a premiership Doggie, you're gonna need a kayak to get out of the MCG. Tears of bloody joy I tell ya, dead set.
Congratulations to you and your 7 year old. You must be so proud. Enjoy!

Do not doubt the power of the jalepeno.

Did that really happen? I'm trying to convince my brother to fly out for the Finals. He was last here six years ago and we had to settle for a Richmond/Hawthorn Qualifying Final. It's the only game he's seen live. Richmond won. Ugh. [emoji20]

Me on Grand Final Day jealousy watching your child put another Premiership medal around Bonty.

That's incredible though. If we make finals, every week will be doubly anxiety riddled for you.

The only dark cloud on an otherwise glorious day was the Brian Taylor led commentary on 7. Had very little interest in why Dogs were playing so well ... except repeated mentions of Swans injuries. They offer no insight or analysis. Basically, if they can't bang on about what stars Bont and Jamarra are, they have very little to say about the Dogs.

For all the handwringing about some of our weaknesses (which is true), games like this prove that you get your key position posts and your onball brigade and you're most of the way to a good team.

We dominated the groundballs and we dominated the packs. On the other hand, Swans had a bunch of nice kicking flanker types, our weakness as that's the positions filled by our whipping boys. But which positions won the game for us ... our talls and our hard ball winners.

Free kick count didn't go out way but it is also where you get them that counts. Think the Swans should put in a call to the AFL for some clarification and apology Monday.

Injuries to their key guys probably contributed too.

Or maybe they are the weakest would-be minor premier since I don't know when. This compromised draw is a joke for a professional league.

Bramble looking great and seems to be using his speed more. Full of confidence. Playing terrific football. Coming together at the right time. No reason they couldn't win the last four now.

Bevos back.
