Not enough fire in the belly. Except for Buddy. He craves premierships
Yeah. Should've physically intimidated the Bulldogs that game when if anything the reverse happened.

For all their attributes, I reckon the Swans under Longmire are too 'nice'. Sometimes you've got to have a couple of players who are prepared to play dirty and nasty when the situation requires as the Hawks did in their triple premiership era. That aspect was badly missing in last year's GF.

This makes no sense. Tippett was playing very well when Franklin came in and Franklin's contract was based around associated services payments which didn't attract COLA. I also fail to see how having a sudden 10% cut in your salary cap can just be dismissed.

Melbourne has academy zones in traditional football areas. Sydney's are in places with most no connection to football. Doesn't seem like AFL favouritism to me.
The point is Tippett has turned into a bust but the Swans can wear it because they were able to recruit another star forward due to their salary cap situation.

Melbourne does not have academy zones.

And every club passed on him multiple times before the Swans took him at #58..
I'm not saying they didn't, I'm pointing out that the AFL looked the other way when Jack clearly failed to follow the correct procedures for entering the draft. Had he nominated for the draft other clubs would have had an opportunity to have a better look at him but as it was only the Swans who he had been training with had some inside knowledge.

You don't need an Academy with the amount of priority picks you've had.
It's not our fault you couldn't develop players.

Let's put that to the test , are you still defending parker's finals record ?
Some of Riolis finals performances are right up there with Leon Davis
Sam Mitchell was horrible in grand finals early.
His man got the norm smith in 2012.
Barely touched it in 2008 & 2013.
He eventually come good.

Nice attempt to shift the goal posts, has nothing to do with the topic though.

Sydney (and the other northern clubs) get access to priority picks every year in the form of academy zone selections. I don't recall any club receiving a priority pick after playing off in a Grand Final which is what happened with Sydney in 2014.

What makes you think he's going to get more opportunities in big finals ? Rioli changed the tide in 2008 and won the normie in 2015.
As for Mitchell , yes I agree , he tagged out of some big finals , but as you said he found a way to turn it around .
Don't recall Parker ever having a hard tag on him ? Jury is still out

Parkers problem is not helped by dud coaching, i mean he can take a grab for his size, give him a run forward when its going shit, try something. But he will be nothing more than a good clubman until he starts to deliver when it counts imo

By the time Tippett took a turn down (about the second half of last year) the COLA had been removed, so the hit was as same as in any other club.

Melbourne does not have academy zones.
http://www.melbournefc.com.au/Team/next-generation-academy
Based on the success of AFL Club Academies in the Northern States, the AFL has provided seed funding for all Victorian clubs to run talent development Academies for boys and girls aged 11-15 in allocated zones.

Melbourne Football Club has been allocated Melbourne’s South East corridor (Casey/Dandenong/Mornington Peninsula) and Alice Springs, NT.
