Prediction Swans 2018 Season

Rohan Connolly said that Sydney had this deflated look like we were lacking inspiration towards the last month of the comp which is why the weekend's performance wasn't a surprise to him. I'd say he's correct there, except that lack of inspiration was basically there all year, not just the last month.

We found reasons along the way (JPK going hulk against Geelong in Geelong, Ben Ronke's 7 against Hawthorn, Buddy's 8 against West Coast, AJ's comeback game and then the Melbourne win where we kinda did it for AJ) but whenever there was no real motivation or point to prove or individual performance to get us over the line we'd just be flat.

yep looked stale

some of these warriors have heard the same message/gone to the well a fair bit

doesnt look fun out there

lets be honest we were rarely fun to watch

close wins were good, but you had to sit through some crap to get to the exciting part

Very true. Horse has gotta find a way to get his players to buy in and play confident footy that they want to play. If Hardwick can do it surely Horse can

I don't necessarily disagree with that. But this Richmond team have only known Hardwick, most of them had him when they were getting belted every week and looking listless. And they turned it around in literally twelve months, with a less talented list than we have. Whatever's Horse doing is not working because there's no buy in and that was clear all this year and the majority of last year IMO. Who knows, maybe all he has to do is change his approach. Is he capable is the question

Oh what misery.
A good freshen up of the list in the off season which can now be done. It couldn't during the season which is why I'm always banging heads with people.
This is the time now to delist & recruit new players that are up for the challenge. 2018 is over for us so we move on with another tinker of the gameplan that we didn't really get the opportunity to try out properly as we lost some key components of it early in the piece. The most critical two were Reid & Naismith which automatically would have had us a more attacking team as we were in Round 1 against West Coast. McCartin playing out the season pretty much says it all to me. We were structurally unsound because of the inexperience in key forward posts.

No guarantees that we will stay healthy in 2019 but we can only hope, then there will be only one more year after next with Horse as our coach but I am pretty sure things are in place for a transition after him. For now though, two more years.

Hey The King! I did alright on these tips, except of course for the premiers bit!:rolleyes:

A few people predicted us to go 14 and 8.

In fact the prediction by caesar88 was pretty close to being spot on.

In fairness this was a ridiculous season for us in terms of predictability. We went from being in 2nd place to outside the 8 in the space of a month, to then playing for a top 4 spot, and then being bundled out in an elimination final. All the while we had the best record vs top 8 sides yet a losing record at home.

We were a tipster's nightmare this year.
