Lol, Malceski is a future captain of the club. Dream on.

I agree. But Malceski is only contracted with Sydney till the end of 2009. And when he signed a two year contract with us last year, he mentioned that his mother wanted him to come home to Melbourne.

Just on The Footy Show, Craig Hutchinson says we've offered Fev a 4 year contract worth 3 million dollars! Fev, oohed and uhmmed, kind of denied it, but looks to be a terrible liar.

You're not serious?

Do you guys even like the idea of having Fev? Personally Sydney's 1 of the last clubs i could see him playing for but what do you think?

Well when you think of our predicament Hall, and Micky O both gone say by the end of 2009, then having the colman medalist on board makes perfect sense.

What about our potential KPP forwards in the reserves? I still believe Grundy should be playing forward not defence, and also Murphy and White. Surely they should replace Hall/MOL. Not much depth if we just slot Fevola into our forward line without developing our younger players.

Not really the point, but, we will never replace MOL.

He is one of the hardest matchups in the league, pace on the lead, great over head mark, strong body, crumbs off the deck like a midget.

He is a freak.

Requires a very very good defender every week.

I hear ya, but they arent exactly match winners and wont dominate to the same extent as Hall, Micky O, Fev of any other gun fwds would. Sadly they havent been able to play a couple of years in the seniors to do their time, and i couldnt see them winning us games, unlike Fev could.
There would be room for the younger guys even with Fev in the team.
Fev would be perfect target around the 50, Okeefe can play up the wing, and we can play either Grundy, White, Payfair, Brennan, out of FF

Hall, Fev or MickO weren't touted to be the players they were when they were young, but niw they're superstars ...

My point is, how can you resign yourself to the predicament that we won't see another Hall or MickO type player in our draftees?

Fev coming to Sydney is a scary concept to entertain. We all know what he can do with good delivery, but to lose players thecalibre of Mal and ROK and Davis seems a bit much for a 27 year old who has 5 years max of footy left. 2 or 3 at his peak.

Fair call, though the POV coming from the Swans according to the media is, they dont believe we have enough depth to cover Hall and O Laughan. I agree Fev is a gamble but its one worth taking, especially if we are to remain competitive.
If hes 27 now he would be 32 by the end of his contract, about the same as Hall and O Laughan by the time they retire, no?
Also there is the draft from 2009 to consider to some degree.

Yeah, but if you look at it from what we already have you see;

MID-MOD*
KP FW/DEF-Jesse White*
RUCK-Dan Currie*
DEF-Peter Faulks*
KP DEF-Brendan Murphy*
DEF/FW-Aaron Bruce*
FW/MID-Pat Veszpremi*
MID/FW-Ed Barlow*
MID-Ryan Brabazon*
MID/FW-Tim Schmidt*
MID/DEF-Nick Smith*
SML FW-Nick Davis*
DEF/FW (?)-Luke Brennan*
KP FW/DEF-Reg Grundy*

Hefty list of talent we already have. Players with * are ready for senior selection (from my point of view..) this year and next. Actually that's probably all of them :p

(Anyone wishing to correct me with the list, please do so ;] )

There is a massive diifference between 'ready to play' and actually playing at the highest standard.

With the obvious exception of Davis, if even 30% of them go on to play over 50 games, it would be a huge result.

I am not saying we dont have a good crop of youngsters at the moment, but the reality is, most are not even vaguely tested yet.

If we are trading players, it will be those that are surplus to our needs. Malceski won't be on the table, simply because Kennelly is expected to leave in 2009. (unless of course Mal wanted to go, which I doubt since he only resigned last year).

Ah, it's all over the newspapers and everything. I like how things always get blown out of proportion. :thumbsd: Apparently Roosy will be holding a conference this morning?

I can't believe it took 7 pages of this thread for anyone to mention what was said on the footy show last night. Yes, Fev was very unconvincing in his denials.
I switched off the telly last night very happy and confident that Fev will be a swan next year. Hutchy is usually pretty close to the mark. This is as big as 94 when we signed Plugga.

It took 7 pages because this thread was started days ago when the rumour first floated on SEN (the bastion of truth). No doubt Hutchy either heard that report or read this very thread.

i definitely don't want him and don't believe he'll play for the swans.

His attitude is terrible and not even the swans could turn him around.

We could get Fev for nothing through the Pre season draft. He just has to nominate a 4 year deal worth 3 million and other clubs are going to balk at drafting him, and we can then pick him up. Simply.....:thumbsu:

You are seriously out of your mind if you think that this is the worst thing that has happened this season. As someone who is still playing football at country league level, a delibrate elbow to someones head is by far worse than what Goodes did to Selwood and have you forgotten about BBB's hit????? Wake up from your wonderland.......:thumbsd:
u havent read this whole thread have you?
i meant worst in as the decision of the players action
straight away when i saw goodes do that i wanted to get out on the field and belt him, im sure roos did aswell.

he went straight at a player bent over goin going for the ball, hit in him in the head with his hip and run straight past him.

he knows the rules and so does every other player, i havent seen something as idiodic as that.

well maybe ur post, should learn to read a whole thread before u post something.

Spot on. And anyone who has paid any attention to Goodes this year has seen him connect or narrowly miss a number of times. It has replaced his previous trademark of a hard elbow to the back of an unsuspecting opponent but it's just as weak and totally inexcusable. The leadership group should be all over him.
