At the end of the day, it's going to come down to where he wants to live - Sydney or Melbourne. If he says Melbourne, we load him up on a big front-ended contract for 2010, and go from there after that.

Feeling reasonably confident that we could land him, given that we have the brand new facilities, should be playing finals, and having Bradshaw in the team, should almost counter-act losing Fevola. He's also got a team-mate at the club that he knows very well, given that they lived together up in Brisbane.

I'm feeling a little bit more confident now after seeing the article on the Carlton website with quotes from Icke.
I just cant help thinking though there maybe a bit more to this and that the Blues have a huge chance of getting Bradshaw.I cant imagine that they'd put something on the Carlton website if they had little hope in getting the guy after alot of supporters were up in arms in regards to the Fev trade or DOES the club already know that they're going to land Bradshaw and this is just to try an soften the blow(re Fev)?????
The club needs to win the "angry" supporters back to renew memberships etc and by landing Bradshaw i believe that would happen. If we don't get him i'm sure the "anti Fev trade" supporters, after reading that article were given false hopes and will be even more ticked off?????

Fingers crossed the Blues land Braddy:)

Well I'm sure the club would like to avoid more angry scenes........as 30 angry supporters.....their (roped in) kids and a less than angry dog don't make for good scenes outside VISY park........none of us want to see that again.

Imagine the chanting:

"Who do we want?"
"FEVOL.......SHAW"
"When do we want him?"
"Now"
"Who do we want?"
"Brad.....ola"
.............
Poor folks.....will get all confused about what they were angry about.......and these damned plastic memberships just don't rip like they used to either..........:D

I'm not convinced our "new" forward Waite will be ready for Round one.
Couple that wih Judd's pressure point punishment, it leaves a massive hole
for the first few games. Even if he's on his last legs, I think
Bradshaw would be invaluable, if for no other reason than to kick some goals while
we reformulate !! (Hopefully we score some champs in the draft, a tall forward
and a tall defender, thankyou very much !!)

We have to face it, we need a "Bradshaw" near the big sticks. Or it could
get ugly very early....

Next year's membership cards need to be the type with vecro 1/2 way along. That way we can rip them in half whe Fev gets traded, stick them back together when we find out it is for Hendo and pick 12. Rip them apart when we spend $1.5m on Bradshaw then stick them back together when he kicks a few goals etc etc

Why would we trade away our future for someone who may not even play a game next year and at best has 3-4 years at the top of his game? Bradshaw is a different story, we don't need to trade any youth to get him so it's a win-win gamble.

If we miss out, we haven't lost anything.

No one knew wtf was going on with "you know who" during trade week so that is not the reason you nuffs didn't do a deal.

So Bradshaw is 31 how many years do you think has left?

Doesn't mean Sydney wanted Fev... After having Hall why'd we want another one in the headlines who may be suspended by the AFL if he stuffs up again?

Prefer Bradshaw by a mile, can teach White and Johnston how to kick goals and play the team game.

This could be a legit reason as to why you didn't want to play.

What you need to face is that the expectations for next year need to be lowered. Bradshaw or not.

Our forward line WILL be very good, but ot for a year or two.........so some patience will be required, and it will be rewarded. :thumbsu:

Agreed, but we should still make the 8 next year, even minus Fevola. We finished 2.5 games ahead of Essendon, who have lost Lloyd, Lucas and traded Lovett. I expect Hawthorn to play finals next year, with Essendon to miss out.

I agree.

I just think we could be off to a slow start with a forward line that hasn't played together before, a ruck that hasn't played with our midfield before (Warnock) and a backline returning from serious injury.

All going well our backline should be the glue next year. Bower and Jammo need to stay fit, and if they can team with the others and settle the back 6 they can have a break out year IMO.

Midfield will look a little vulnerable without Judd and Stevens, and typically Simmo is a slow starter.

Forward line will be the key. If we get Bradshaw then we may just hold ground and get our 13 wins........if we don't I can see us slipping back just a touch and maybe being on 10 wins with a few games to go and fighting with 3 others for that last spot in the finals.

FWIW I think WCE could be the one that pushes for a top 8 spot as well. Depends on the fitness of Kerr and Cox of course but with Kennedy and Le Cras up forward they will certainly be able to kick some scores.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Brisabane struggle a bit. They have landed one big fish, but lost 3 (Bradshaw, MacDonald, Rischitelli - still there but burnt by the club and GC bound in 2011 you'd think).

So many new faces they may not gel stright up and it could be a bit of teething.

I dont think we will slip as much a some people seem to think. We will actually have MORE scoring options next year. We will be far less predictable, thus making it hard for the opposition to match up on us.

I think we will do just fine nest year :D :thumbsu: :D

Not sure if this article's been posted.

The interesting bit....
It is believed Bradshaw agreed to terms with Brisbane for a new two-year deal before trade week but he was incensed when the Lions offered him as part of the failed trade deal involving former Blue Brendan Fevola and Brisbane midfielder Michael Rischitelli. It's also understood Bradshaw has had several heated verbal exchanges in recent weeks with Lions coach Michael Voss.
He doesn't seem to be a big fan of Vossy and his ego.

:)

I think this may happen quite a bit in the future !!

Again it brings me back to the point........is Voss doing what is in the best interests of the Lions going forward, or is he just trying his hardest to look after some old mates (Black, Power, Brown) before they retire and try and get them a flag.......selling his clubs future in doing so. Bradshaw would have every right to feel left out of this "mates deal".

Rischitelli is also majorly pissed and will look to the GC in 12 months time.

After giving away Henderson and this years first round pick......Rich will be their only early pick in a 5 year period (with GC and WS in the next couple).........when Black and co retire in a few years there will be very little left to replace them........other than Staker and Clarke. :o

Maybe Voss should have traded Black and Power for first round picks and gone the other way.

Makes a shit load of sense BB.
He is clearly only thinking about the "now" and is not overly concerned about the future. Everyone is saying the Lions were the big winners in trade week
IMO I think they have only topped up there list. Apart from "you know who" they only recruited second tier players, that are not really the future of the club (apart from Raines). So for Voss's sake they had better win the flag in the next 2 years or I think he may be in a wee bit of trouble.
Because after that their future doesn't look that bright :(

I've also noticed that Brisbane supporters now DESPERATELY don't want Bradshaw to end up at the Blues. They know Voss bungled the Fev trade, and from their perspective Bradshaw going to the Blues would just add salt to their wounds. But the fact is Brisbane's cost in the Fev trade is now fixed and won't change whether he goes to Sydney (likely) or the Blues. Funny how the cost of this Fev Trade silently and slowly escalated. :)
