Bailey and McDonald have a great record of success. One micky mouse T20 cup failure would be meaningless, especially considering who is anavailable.
4-1 Ashes result is basically considered a failure for the Aussies
Lost WTC final
Lost Champions Trophy
Lost T20I World Cup (2024)
Lost ODI series to Pakistan and Sri Lanka (2024/25)
Lost to Windies in Pink ball test (Drawing that Series at home)
Lost ODI series to South Africa and India (2023)
Lost T20I series to India 4-1 (2023)
Lost T20I World Cup (2022)

All of this has happened in the last 3-4 years or so. I'd consider this a failure as the only shining light in that time was winning the WTC final. We even blew a 2-0 lead in an Ashes series over in the UK (yes a little bit had to do with Lyon's injury) but still this team can't seem to land the knockout blow that it use to consistently be able to do.

Cam Green, what an innings.

He’s the fewcha, gotta stick with him:

What an insipid performance by the Aussies. We need new selectors and a broom through the joint.

All this chatter about whether smith is good enough. Sure he’s not a 7 Foot slogger but i’d back him every day of the week and twice on Sundays over this lazy entitled lot.

Beat England and India in test series and i don't care where it was played TEST cricket is what matters

Winning a proper ODI World Cup and beating India last year are a couple of blows you fail to mention. Making the last 2 WCT finals no mean feat and beating India in one of them a great achievement. Retention of the Ashes as well. Your 4-1 comment is silly when a number of experts, including Australians, were tipping a close contest. Not to mention our players who were unavailable.

So all that they have done in 5 years is:

Win a ODI world cup
Win a Test Championship
Defend the Ashes at home (Hadn't lost a home Ashes test in the previous 3 series)
Win against India at home

You also talk about the players being unavailable but like half the test wins you talk about the opposition had multiple star players out, defeating that whole point.

We have literally not made the semi-finals of the last 2 T20 world cups, been knocked out in the group stages of the major nations round both times and we look on track to potential be knocked out alongside the Associate nations this time around.

I think I just expect higher standards than this across all fronts as we are about 2 Travis Head innings away from being uncompetitive for the last half a decade

This loss will be swept under the carpet and ignored given our recent test record but it shouldn't be. Zim cricket is a basket case. Riddled with corruption, nepotism and under funding, there really is no way we should lose to them in any form of cricket, anywhere. Most of their team would be struggling to make a metro 1st grade team in Australia.

It's ok for any countries to win sometimes you know. T20 world cups are a bit of a lottery and rate lower IMO although this coaching regime have also won one IIRC.

A large part of why we consistently land the knockout blow probably had a lot to do with having Ponting, McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist, Hayden, Langer etc at our disposal.

The current generation is not as strong but a ODI World Cup, a WTC and at one point holding all of the bilateral test series trophies still makes Australia the envy of other cricketing nations.

Fair I just think they could have definitely selected better at all levels and that level of neglect has really seen Australia still win some but not as convincing as times in the past and I think it will cause a sharpish decline in the next half a decade or so as plenty of players have been mismanaged into the Australian set up. Either brought in too early or absolutely neglected until late

It will be interesting when Smith, Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins etc bow out although players seem to play a lot longer these days. Batting more an issue than bowling I reckon. I guess I concentrate more on tests although I rate the 50 over world Cups.

Apparently the world’s best batsman isn’t worth being selected in our side, whilst a bunch of miserably out of form batsmen are given a gig. It looked absurd before the tournament & now even more so.

I’m frustrated with the selectors & the Zimbabwe loss has tipped that into anger territory.

Every T20 World Cup for me is like...

Before the tournament: "pumped! Let's ****ing go, this is our year!"

A few games into the tournament: "T20 isn't even real cricket anyway!"
