Hi All!
Long time lurker

6. Favourite Swans memories?
2012 GF With the old boy, Goal after siren v Essendon (Gaz), Every win against Essendon/Collingwood
Just a small correction (in bold)

Welcome aboard RR. There was no need to lurk in the shadows for 27 years. All comments are welcome, just stay away from joining any debates or making and comments about Sam Reid and you'll be fine.

Hi all, have been lurking on here for a couple of years now.
I remember starting following the Swans in the early 80's and remember seeing seeing capper in the reserves in the 'fly in days' God we were awful. I won't name names but I remember seeing one of our players playing on after the siren one time in front of goal, It didn't cost us the game of course because we weren't even close. Once when we were playing Hawthorn in front of 5 000 people the Hawthorn cheer squad changed ends each quarter to be at the scoring end to see Mathews score his 400th goal. They just pushed us aside. Once Carltons banner was classic, it had pacmen gobbling up swans with the writing 'Sydney, Start Packing'
The crowd figures were a joke 6-8000 was surely counting individual legs.
Went to a pre-season practice game once and the boys were changing in a shipping container.
I only left early once and that was when Carlton kicked 9 goals in the first quarter so I went to a pub.
I was around the club during the Barry Round, Ricky Quade incident and used to go to the Catholic Club after the games.
I could go on about the bad old days but then Hafey and Williams came and it was the most exciting time. Sellouts, Goals, consecutive 100 point wins, It was the biggest show in town.
I Saw the semi final in 96 against Hawthorn when Lockett didn't come up. Fantastic game, went from 40000 crowd straight into the Sydney football stadium for St George V Canberra. Great weekend. St, George Red and white too.
I got a letter from Geoffrey Edelstein in a gold embossed envelope around the time he took over the club. When I opened it all that was there was newspaper clippings of what a good guy he was.
I love the club and watched the 2016 GF from an Irish pub in Paris. Ah don't mind sharing the success around.
Oh and I never got a free ticket which was a rumour during the dark days

I was there for a lot of those games, but unfortunately, not the Irish Pub in Paris... Buggar!!!

Both the Swans and QBE handed those tickets out for free... all over Sydney and NSW. No rumour, it was true...

Kudos to you for sticking by Hanners as a favorite player. He gave his heart & soul for the Swans.

Welcome.

Hey just arrived here recently
Just finding my feet and learning how it goes

seems a good bunch
The odd grump

A few tips if you want to rapidly earn the respect of the Board:

1. The Aliir trade is always a topic that newcomers are encouraged to raise. Ditto Tom Mitchell.

2. Espousing the merits of Nick Blakey will win you plenty of friends here.

3. Tippett. Discuss.

Hi all, been a reader for a while, tipped over the edge by the umpiring effort over the last 3weeks and have decided to add my two Bob in to the site! Think we need to put pressure on the club to make something of a stand against the clear bias against our club that seems to have kicked in around the time of the buddy trade.

1. Where are you from? Melbourne
2. Why did you start supporting the Swans? Family moved to Sydney from ireland in 1982 at the same time of the swans move to Sydney, moved to Melbourne shortly afterwards but old man was a Swan straight away and passed on to me
3. How long have you been supporting the Swans? Since I can remember, first memory 1986 finals series as a young fella, fitzroy game and crowd chanting Warwick capper has got aids!! Bad result!!
4. Favourite players (current)? Rampe, Parker, Kennedy, Heeney and the young blokes coming through - Errol has captured my attention with his smarts
5. Favourite players (all time)? In order - 1. Goodesy 2. Paul Kelly 3. Brett Kirk 4. Mickey O 5. McVeigh
6. Favourite Swans memories? High scoring Swans in mid-late 80’s, barassi years, rocket early years initially, 96 in particular and pretty much every year since, feel very lucky being a swans supporter since 96, our team has rarely let us down
7. Where were you for the 2005 GF? At the ground, got standing room tickets with my old man, later all over south Melbourne, casino, etc!
8. Favourite piece of Swans memorabilia that you own? The memories are enough

The chants were unforgettable. “he’s big, he’s tall, he’s very very bald, he’s our Barry Hall and Adam Adam Goodes, Adam Adam Goooooodes (sung to Daddy Cool). Proving Demetriou wrong was the icing. Sitting near the Hawthorn cheer squad in the 2012 GF. The choose Roos campaign.

Welcome!

Any fan of the great LRT is a happy addition to the BF boards.

Good to be back here after a decade. (An old boiler under another name at the other forum😉) hope to see some better civilised banter here. Was 20 year Swans member but gave it away when I moved down here last year - but found that our local AFL club is the Goulburn Swans!! So I’ve got the supporter merch to fit right in. Hoping you are all keeping safe & well.

Hi all, I thought I should finally do this.
Been lurking for a few years and finally posted back at trade period, I'm not very active but always reading most threads. Being a swans fanatic I enjoy following the discussions and am grateful to stumble across the community.

Kudos to all the mods and the regular posters, your commitment is appreciated.

1. Where are you from?
Born and raised in Wagga. Now living on the Sunshine Coast.

2. Why did you start supporting the Swans?
By chance as a 3 yr old I was drawn to the colours and have been supporting ever since.

3. How long have you been supporting the Swans?
30 years

4. Favourite players (current)?
Mills is the standout. I love his toughness, courage, temperament and footy IQ. I think he embodies what the bloods are about.
Super excited about Errol the Turk and 'theChad'

5. Favourite players (all time)?
Paul Kelly and Tony Lockett are my childhood hero's. Brett Kirk and Adam Goodes are hard to go past and I also loved LRT what a warrior.

6.Favourite Swans memories?
Premierships obviously in a class of their own.
I was at the Nick Davis miracle game, the atmosphere in the 4th and post match is something I'll never forget.
School clinic's and other random signing events as a young fella were amazing.
More recently the win over the Giants when all staff belted out the song. The emotions and connectedness on display there was a proud to be a supporter type moment.

7.Where were you for the 2005 GF?
At a friend's place for a massive GF BBQ party. Under-age drinking having a wow of a time. Celebrations were epic for a bunch of 15/16 yr olds anyway.

8. Favourite piece of Swans memorabilia
Framed signed photo and accompanying newspaper article of myself with Plugger and Kelly. Hard to beat that experience as a child, great memory.

If there are any Sunny Coasters here please reach out. I would be keen to have a beer and watch /talk footy.

Cheer cheer!
