Dude - Cooney looked very classy.

I was very happy with the entire team - The usual suspects like Johnno and Smithy were billiant

But I'd like to say Ryan Hargreaves really showed his best today.

And Big Will gave us a massive drive

Harro - awesome performance

And of course Jordie

Cheers

I was pleased to see that everyone had a red hot go. Cooney, McMahon, Darcy, Johnno and Grant stood out. Hargrave played his best game for ages. Boyd (who no one else here seems to rate  ) was top possession getter for a while there and was always looking to make a spoil and get the ball forward. Brian Harris showed some nice moves. Minson made a difference in the centre.

Cooney was probably Best on Ground. How do u rate the rest of the players performances?

west for mine, although cooney was very good. smith was great and put his body on the line numerous times. thought johno played his usual game, which is to say bust a gut but with a selfish streak. Westy and darce way ahead of him for the captaincy I reckon.

YES - Boydie had a very good game today, and really showed a 'never say die' attitude.

I know he may have been seen in the past at one stage as being too slow or a 'gap filler' but I now see him as being an integral player who could mould himself into the type of player that he wants to be .

Cheers

I was surprised to see West run onto the ground...
Yes Boyd did play a good game, I only saw Griffen come on well into the last Qtr but he stood out.

Dude - I agree with you except i think you have underestimated the momentum that Big Will gave us.

Last year they used to praise us when Street Rucked and Darce went forward, but I think those assessments were more a testament to Darcy's prowess as a footballer than Street's.

But Seeing Herr Minson's game today, it really makes me optomistic

'Anger is an Energy (PIL)' and i think Big Willie has tapped into that souce.

Cheers - Pete

Agree - thought we looked better when Minson was on. Added a presence we have been lacking.

Don't agree. I thought Rawlings looked pretty average and Harris looked the senior backman.

I would have rated Gilbee as good or better, and I thought Minson did really well when he was on.
Yep fair enough, Minson didn't hurt the opposition with the ball but
did a pretty good job in the ruck.

You have got to be kidding about Hargraves!!!! He was a calamity out there. There is a difference between trying and having no idea im afraid to say. each time Hargraves got the ball he either fumbled it, dropped sitters out on his own, let his man take far to many marks and turned the ball over on a regular basis. I had Saints supportes Hawk supporters Swans supporers all around me laughing saying "here we go when he touched the ball. Having said that though throw a blanket over alot of our players today, alot of average performances out there, lets hope this improves. There was not alot to get excited about im afraid as it just looks like the same old Bulldogs out there today! Harris was great in the backilne, Gia was good in the first half, Coon was great and looks a lot quicker than last year and alot more sure of himself. Cam Faukner was explosive and hard when he was on and will be good this year. Wil Minson really didn't do as much as it is suggested reading through this thread, won a few tap outs yes, threw his body around yes, but im not sure he is deserving of all this hype. I must say that i was surprised by Mcmahon he got alot of it and wasted very little, however i don't think he is a backman and will be found out against quality oppositon and less time. Bubba was great wasn't he, as was Johnno, Murph was good but his disposal was horrible today very surprisong given his genius. Thought on a whole we were very average today, bad decision making and far to many turnovers, each time the game was in the crunch, who else but Johnno or Westy or Bubba to help steady the ship (same old story) had we not played their thirds we would have been found out quite easily on todays performance.

I thought HARGRAVE had a good first half, but then fell away in the second half. He did keep sydney's most dangerous forward to one goal though. He tends to take his eyes of the ball i think, that's why he fumbles and drops marks at times.

Gilbee was good to very good in my opinion, uses the ball well.

Cross needs to improve his kicking, there were a few occassions were he lobbed the ball to players who are close by (did it to ray in the 3Q and he was crunched as a result).

The Mcmahon/Gilbee HBF setup looks good as they both deliver the ball well to players further up the field. This frees up smith to play forward where he always looks likely.

Thought power was very, very poor.

If this was a game where we'd do the ching, I'd do:

5 - Gilbee
4 - Harris
3 - Cooney
2 - Smurf
1 - McMahon

Rawlings was ok but not great in the backline. Still think the backline is where he's best served for us.

Was pleased to see more intensity, hard tackling and more accountability. Reasonable performance with no over-reliance on the senior group.

Not reading too much into it, but fairly happy.

I think he can do a lot better. He fumbled about 4 or 5 times and made some handballing errors.
OKeefee is a good player and won out on the day.

My votes are:

5. Cooney
4. Boyd
3. Johnson
2. Mcmahon
1. Darce

Easy as that. Proud of Mcmahon today but by going by todays performance Power will be in for another long year....

How can you rule out 1 player based one a game where he didn't get a great run and the whole team played well?
Apart from once where he might of been a little slow to dispose of it, I didn't see any major stuff ups from him.

It has been 40 odd games and he still makes the same mistakes, runs to the wrong positions and looks lost. It isn't about not stuffing up, that isn't good enough. It is about creating, he just doesn't create, his opponent can run off him and not have to worry about him because he doesn't hurt the opposition.

Bit harsh. Thought he was great today. Foot skills were absolutely brilliant at times.

I completely agree, he would be second BOG for me. And I reckon Jonno would make a better captain then darcy and westy...

Write off half the list then if your looking at 40 games of the last 2 years.

Where and when did he make mistakes, run to wrong position and look lost today? When did Spriggs run off him? We were talking the same about players like MacMahon not long ago. Power was one of the best 2 week back.

If you looking at mistakes count the number Hargrave had today and even an experienced player like Johno did. Any calls to delist Johno?

Every player (including my favourite Harrison) deserves a go this year with new coach and a new system.

1 Johnno
2 Bubba
3 Harris
4 Guido
5 Gilbee, Hargrave [his best game in a while on one of the Swan's best], Cooney, Mitch
9 Murph, Boydy [off in 2nd quarter? - very good in first and 3rd]
11 Cam, Jordy
13 Westy [may have missed his possies but thought he was quiet in first half]
14 Cross, Rawlings, Minson
17 Granty - in the play in first quarter but little after that
18 Sam and Bowdo
20 Griffen [nice goal],
21 Ray
22 Bandy
23 Skip

Not a great effort against an undermanned side but good to have a win. Good tackling, poor disposal at times and stuff ups at both ends - wasted chances to score by poor delivery and innacuracy.
