The Swans rebuild was exceptionally fast, going from bottom 4 in 2019/2020 to a grand final appearance in 2022.

This turnaround, often dubbed a lightning fast transformation, saw the club blend a seasoned core with a talented youth influx (including Chad Warner and Errol Gulden) to avoid a long stint in the bottom half of the ladder.

Key elements of the rebuild include rapid ascent, draft success, top up strategy and draft focus.

The club maintained high standards, avoiding a long term rebuild and ensuring they remained competitive in a challenging market.

Should more clubs look to emulate the recent Swans rebuild? Too many clubs take too long to rebuild their lists, selling the dream of being good in the future despite being bad in the present.

Academy driven. AFL don't want them out of the 8 for more than a year at most.

That is rather unfair as Sydney have had some good later selections that have helped a lot, guys like McCartin, Warner, McInerney etc. None of whom are academy picks, but all of whom are important to the team.

In fact the only first round academy players we have on the list are Mills, Heeney, Blakey and Campbell (admittedly 3 of them are very good players).

Collingwood fans complaining about privileges. Unreal.

Now go add 3 absolute guns to the other contender's teams for free - one of whom is in the discussion for best player in the AFL - and see what a difference that makes.

2026 time for a Swans flag i think
otherwise its back to drawing board in 2027
they could have won 2022 and 2024 flags as well
2026 seams right for a swans flag also i think freo as well

No rebuild just replaced our weaker bottom 6 with new recruits (Curnow,Rosas,Serong) had some luck playing teams on good weeks we also finally have a decent VFL side that plays with structure very similiar to the seniors.

We also finally have useable depth nothing crazy but McLean/Hamling/Ladlams would be certain starters for most teams.
