Ling still in witness protection then

Last weeks stats are daunting for a lot of the team.
So many at 13 and under!
Plus with the injuries in the 1s, you would assume that more top ups will be required.
Bell concussion and an ankle blow out for another in the 2s too.
Barkley with 1 touch in a full game? How can that be right??

Who had the ankle blow out?

Barkley always has low stats because he seems to be often asked to play a pure lock down role on an opposition tall but only one possession last week does seem strange.

Thurlow. I think.
Yep, I never expect to look at stats to judge a game, but just 1 touch?
Surely that says he was put in a role that was well over his head?

And Tucker and Ling have been abducted by aliens.

Did well to have Bell back after a concussion!

Did well to have Bell back after a concussion!

Yeah... did not get up from his seat on the bench after re-emerging from the rooms last week and struggled to accept the well-wishes of teammates.

I’m curious to see how we go this week... particularly the back 6 who showed very little composure last time out.
From a team perspective, prefer Amartey posing a threat up forward with Menzel... the likes of MacKellar and Barkley have held their own all season until last week, when I think it was the listed guys who struggled to stay composed behind a weakened midfield.
Not a lot of positivity in the dugout last week... coaches need to address that as I feel it is declining week on week. Toppies struggling for validation in their own minds... new recruits wrestling with roles and structure... and the burden of leadership falling on too few, leaves us looking quite vulnerable with only games against the three competition front runners after this week.

Really hoping for a big bounce back in confidence more than anything... show us what ya got coaches!

When you consider the NDS boys, the U18 top ups and then throw in the likes of Hirst, McLean and Knoll that is a very young and inexperienced team again. I guess that goes with the territory of being in the Reserves but it will be important for Jack to show some really excellent leadership qualities here.

And add to that the better mids being called to 1s, are being replaced by future mid projects who struggle to run both ways, and the 18s and 17s are playing wherever there is a need rather then their best position.
Good to see Rayner moving into the back line to starch it up.
NT should provide some confidence for the team. If not, it could be a straw that breaks the camel's back.

NT are traditionally not great at defensive play and once a side gets a decent lead they tend to drop off. Hopefully some of the swans boys get off the chain and they get a win. Having said that NT pushed Southport.

I agree, presumably Fox and possibly one more will go to Melbourne as emergency weakening the side further. As a result kids like Wicks are pushed to play midfield (which he can do based on his 40 disposal outing against Giants) however it does mean he can't practice the small forward skills needed for a seniors call up. Neafl midfield has been a bit of graveyard in recent years with players stuck in the NEAFL midfield and then not being able to play a specific role (eg small forward) in the seniors. I'm thinking robinson, foote, brandon jack etc

Maybe the team should have at least one training session a week together with all levels.
Allow the 19s, 18s and 17s to get a better understanding of patterns, roles and each other's strengths and weaknesses.
