lol. And opposition supporters were whingeing that the swans were just 'lucky' with injuries in 2005.

That is probably the best news I've ever heard come out of the swans. Just goes to show how advanced our admin have become.

It's just too bad we're not milking these big soccer clubs in Europe for all they are worth:
''We have been to all the big clubs in Europe, and fundamentally it's to build a relationship between the people at their clubs in those areas and our people and to exchange information,'' Swans chief executive Andrew Ireland said. ''It's not as though we have gone over to sell our software system to them.''

I'm just happy to see how far our club has come since 1993. It's stories like this that bring a smile to my face.

It goes to show, that we're leaders in some fields in the AFL and that other supporters are just jealous. We weren't lucky with injuries in 2005. It was fate, that we won the premiership.

The Swans could make some serious coin selling this system to big football clubs around the world. Big soccer clubs would pay a lot of money for a programme which would keep their stars (stars that are worth $50,000+ a week) on the park.

But, would the other big Victorian clubs complain about how we're receiving money though outside the salary cap? lol

It seems to have big potential for us.

What do you mean? Completely different areas... the Swans don't have a salary cap, the players do.

I know, that was a tongue in cheek post. ;)

I'm incredibly surprised this news hasn't made the main board (As far as I'm aware). To me, this is really big news.

I guess opposition fans just don't like to discuss good news coming from the swans.

The "good will" value of this kind of technology has immesurably more value than any money Swans would stand to make.Long term, the partnerships forged between Swans & the some of the biggest sporting organisations in the world, in sharing of ideas, innovations & technologies can only lead to better outcomes for the competition as a whole.
It's(the AFL) big business, whether you like to admit it or not, & the value of "good will" should never be underestimated

Nice stuff although not too keen on giving it to Manchester but I don't mind the nice cash we are getting on the side.

Would it matter, if they gave us the most money? ;)

Stuff good will. Let's milk the bastards for all the $$$$ we can!

agree with this.

Sorry if I sound like a dumbarse when it comes to computers but how does it work? I mean selling a system or software however it works? Is it like a patend computer program or something? Will we lose our staff to higher paying overseas clubs to implement said 'software'? Obviously its not as easy as burning a copy of a disc which was my first thought...

also agree this should be on the mainboard, although Id expect the usual crap from the usual nuf nufs.

This article from yesterday's Age may clear up some of your queries.

How about we license our software to all the soccer clubs in Europe and become the sporting worlds Microsoft? :thumbsu::cool:

From the article above:
St Kilda's rise to grand finalists last year was due in no small measure to its improved injury management performance under conditioning chief Dave Misson, whom it poached from the Swans.

I don't think I dislike an Australian football club more strongly than St Kilda.

To continue my rant against St Kilda very briefly, check out this clip of Lockett back in 1994. Skip to the 1:07 mark:

My how quickly the StKilda supporters changed their tune when Barry Hall hit MacGuire in the Prelim of 2005. "Oh, Barry is such a thug and a sniper! Waaaah!"
