Best place for this and it’s a definitive ‘NO’ from me:

Horse/Brad Scott swap.

Well if Longmire goes, who do people seriously think will coach our club?
Brad Scott is younger than Ratten. I would feel the same about getting a coach who got the arse from Carlton nearly a decade ago. Same would go for Voss, Hird, etc. None of those guys are close to Longmire as far as the whole package of looking after a player's welfare goes.

Nicks or carasella for me

Carasella was by reports the one to really change the way Richmond went about it

Ratten has obviously been highly rated since under Clarkson
I like those two but they may just be brilliant assistants like Neeld was for Malthouse.
Nicks would be an interesting one actually but the last thing I would want would be a bad breakup no matter who the coach is. That's just not the way we want to do things anymore.

I still think he will see out his contract unless Longmire himself calls time on it
The most likely scenario. Perhaps even the club & Horse have already come to an greement & the players know it, hence the exits of sone players last year, notably Hanners & Rohan & the performances on the field thus far.

There could be any number of things going on behind the scenes to keep things civil as we have become a club of very accountable & honest people. If Horse is really on the nose, it has been discuused at board level & Horse would have put his hand up already in order not to destabilise the club. I have always felt this is would be how Horse would move on, without any blood spilling.

Would be happy with ratten or carasella. Still not sure where this all comes from so suddenly. Can anyone fill me in? Is it just media garbage or does someone actually have some credible info?
The Gong's comment was a sarcastic throw-away line inviting laughter.

There is nothing at all to suggest that Longmire is leaving at the end of the year... it's all just wishing and hoping that has suddenly morphed into supposed 'fact'...

Thanks. Sarcasm can be hard to read when you haven't followed the whole conversation

Ted, I'll stop you there. As much as I respect your point of view and admit Longmire has made it huge point while at this club to bring up mental health awareness for players, this point alone does not rule anyone in or out of the coach job once he leaves nor does it save him from fair criticism until he does.

Player welfare is a "whole of club" issue, we have taken this seriously since before Longmire joined the club. Its a position of its own within the club and regardless of who is our coach now and into the future will be something that will taken seriously and won't be something that will be forgotten once a new coach comes in.

Apologies for the confusion. Just poking fun. Longmire is under contract until the end of 2020, the club love him but apparently he's leaving this year? Don't buy it.

Side effect of the 24 hour news cycle. Idle speculation is treated like news. Same nonsense about Buddy getting traded.

'Not back any time soon': Future uncertain for Swans Grundy, Smith
ANDREW WU APRIL 24, 2019 SMH

Sydney will be without backline stalwarts Heath Grundy and Nick Smith for another considerable period after the pair suffered setbacks in their return from injury, heaping more pressure on the Swans' inexperienced defence.
Youngster Lewis Melican is set to be recalled for the Sydney derby as the Swans look to bed down a new-look back line around their next generation.
...
Former skipper Jarrad McVeigh is yet to resume training after a significant tear to his quadriceps

As Bedders used to say about AJ, #norush. I really want our four stalwarts - McVeigh, KJ, Smith and Reg to get healthy so they can all play one last time in a farewell game at the little G, is. SCG.

Just need to give the guy (Harley) a chance to warm his seat up.
I listened to him chatting to a few other folk asking questions, at the pre season function at Albert Park for Vic Members.
He was nothing but polite, professional, down to earth with every day supporters & intelligent.

Just give other fellow human beings a chance folks. Even if they make mistakes.
Yep. Was very impressed at the members function and then the way he handled himself during the webinar a month or so ago. Answered most of the questions as openly and honestly as he could.

Yes very true. I meant that Horse in particular has always been passionate about mental health which doesn't go unnoticed in the AFL world.

Not doubting he hasn't. But without him the club will still focus on mental health, like the partnership the club is undertaking Black Dog Institute to help address mental health in high schools. That shows the on going commitment the club has not only to player welfare but also mental health.

That would be an incredibly emotional match if we were to send all four off. Especially Reg.
