It may not have had the desired immediate impact but as a talking point he would've been lauded for his PC language and possibly distracted some attention away from his post-climbing antics.

Well he didn't. It was gender specific. Its a terrible public presentation for the club by a captain when equal participation by girls and women in the AFL is being encouraged. Nothing to do with social justice warriors whatever the F that is. He has made a totally unconvincing 'apology". He used the 'moment of madness" defense commonly used by flashers, public pests and other idiots in the magistrate courts in regard to what he called his "attempted" climbing of the goal post. Was he going to the top Edmund Hillary style?. Poor effort all round.

Yeah I know he was all of that and I loved it/him too. I just don't get the inconsistencies that some people post on here regarding player behaviours. If someone has a beef with a player, say it once and be done with it. No need to carry it on and on ad infinitum.

The AFL in some respects is based on a socialist model, the clubs are not truly independent as they have agreed to give up some control in exchange for AFL funding.

It is an imperfect system, but I'm not sure there is a realistic alternative, as I am not sure if some clubs would be able to survive on their own. We still only have $2m of net assets and while things have improved for us off-field in recent years, we don't have the revenue streams that some other clubs do.

true, but the clubs would control more of the revenue themselves if they had more of the control, but then basketcases would run themselves into the ground
