A terrible day and I'd rather not reminis, but my personal opinion is we showed no respect to the bulldogs with the selections on Thursday night. McVeigh and Mills should not have been in the conversation and don't even start me on x Richards.

Marsh Towers and Newman should have played. Easy to say in hindsight I know. A debuting Newman would still have given us more than Macca that day, towers would have at least offered more than Richards and Marsh would have been better than mills.

This is no dig at Macca or Mills as they weren't match fit

I really fail to see how they can list Geelong 2016 to 2019 as unlucky.

2016 prelim thrashed by us
2017 prelim thrashed by Adelaide
2018 elimination final beaten by Melbourne
2019 prelim beaten by Richmond

To me there is no unlucky narrative here, just not good enough, simple as that.

Is this a bad thing?

I like the idea of the NEAFL but it would do our youngsters a lot more good to be playing in a more competitive second-tier comp.

Kind of defeats the purpose of growing the code up north. Helps us develop, certainly.

I think it's a bad thing. We're replacing long term growth for the short term.

The NEAFL has definitely improved in quality and the more that improves the more quality players we'll get locally. Would prefer we keep improving the NEAFL rather than abandon it

The best thing to do would be loaning promising players to struggling clubs ala GC,Carlton,LolNorf,

Let them develop, give their teams a boost, and then take them back after a couple of years.

But that will never happen.
