Enjoy my Cycling History and came across this today in an old newspaper(very old media...). Thought it interesting that this is in 1895-6 and the football club adopted the same sash design in 1907 so may have taken their inspiration from the local cycling club jerseys.

Indeed but behind private doors the club would of said more choice words against Eddie in General the fans are much more invested in this than the club.
