Andrew Pridham article in the Oz, calling for a "long overdue review of AFL operations".

It is behind a paywall so not sure of the details but generally speaking I wholeheartedly agree with Andrew.

As an addendum to any review, my first questions would be to Gil the dill:

1. Why did the Swans get hit with a trade ban given that they actually broke no rules?

2. What was the justification for the removal of COLA other than the rantings of Eddie three chins and other Vic media / Vic footy club loudmouths?

3. What were the repercussions / what corrective measures were taken in the wake of the most one-sided umpiring display in grand final history - 2016 edition? Has a formal apology been issued to the Swans?

4. If you can remove COLA on the grounds that all clubs should have an equal salary cap to ensure an equitable competition, then by extension would you consider a points system or compensatory picks for clubs who lose players due to the go-home factor? If not, why not and if so - why has this not already been implemented?

5. Further to questions 1, 2, 3 & 4 above - is it just a coincidence that the unlubricated rodgering of the Sydney Swans football club began on your watch as the AFL CEO - or was it carefully planned?

Once he answers these truthfully (yeah right), then the AFL can review their COVID procedures, diabolical rule interpretations and sub-standard umpiring which to me is secondary to the questions raised.

I didn't see any reporting of the Bobby Skilton medal in the SMH. Nor on the opening page of the AFL website. Have I missed it? Don't ever doubt how hard it is for the Swans to maintain a presence in Sydney.
