As we are in a Northern Market, how we win doesn't get the clicks and in turn the advertising dollars. It's how our opposition lost to us or beat us that brings in the views because that's what the majority of people are clicking through to read articles where we are involved.

Doesn't help when the code in NSW is mainly covered by media who come from other sports in a majority of cases and cover AFL to enable them to still cover their main sport.
Most of the NSW articles bar for a few are all cut and paste from the Melbourne dailies.

It's pretty freaking annoying. Our issue is the media is mostly centralised in VIc and they pander to their home audience. Fair enough. But a little credit where its due would be nice once in a while.

Its not so much that we win - its that our opponents lose.

Do you recall when Carlton beat us? it was like their breakout win it signalled their arrival Carlton and Collingwood generate a LOT of revenue and clicks.

They are only looking out for their pocket.

Put your dollars towards the Mongrel Punt who do fantastic reviews of Swans (and others) games. Beat the daylights out of the usual rubbish. Worth every cent.
I already do. Its probably the best unbiased reporting around.

I don't really care about our coverage (or lack of) in the media.

But I did laugh watching a replay of First Crack on Fox just now and they spent literally 30 seconds on us (they showed our draw and said it was pretty easy), to make way for what seemed like about 10 minutes on the completely meaningless West Coast v Essendon game.

They're normally very good but that analysis last night was silly. We've won 3 of our last 4 (likely to be 4 of 5) and our only loss was to a significantly improved Port Adelaide. To suggest we're the hardest team to read or whatever they said was poor analysis.

It is annoying. If they say we're good, or we're absolute s**t, I don't really care, but at least acknowledge we exist and we're not just there to give or take four points from the clubs they're interested in.
Yep. I tuned in to the Footy Show yesterday morning for the first time in about 2 years. When they covered our game they spoke about St Kilda. When they covered the WC v Dons game they only spoke about Essendon. The Melb v Bris game had a little bit more Bris references, but not much.

I just come on here for Swans discussion. We are better than any of the media mob, even the posters I disagree with a lot.

North play 11 times against top 9 sides. They actually play 2 top 8 sides twice. Why? They were bottom. Surely they play no top 8 side twice if this is equalisation? But of course it is not. I mean Carlton get the easiest draw, Adelaide, Eagles, Suns, Hawks, Pies, then North. Equalisation seems to work betterv for some than others. I mean, Carlton were on the cusp of the eight but got the best draw.

It was over so fast, I didn't really notice anything they said.

I feel like I am an expert on the West Coast v Essendon game though.

Lotta good stuff on here. People who think and people who care. Gets a little rabid occasionally and I really don't like the "whipping boy" thing but the good outweighs the bad.
Plus where else would you get all the links? Love your work Ticky009.

Yeah the overreaction to the Port loss here and in the media was something.

To be fair I was pretty ropeable about it. I just didn't post most of what I thought- nothing worse than a Mod getting banned on her own board:grimacing:

shame on the dckheads who picked this lot and didn't include florent's goal
and heyward's goal not long after could also have been included

fck the afl website
Are we allowed to say dickhead and you are totally right , that is pathetic.

Most of us have learnt to expect it but it's also symptom of the deep parochialism that plagues the code.

Imagine someone introduced to AFL for the first time and discovering half the clubs are in one city and that it's taken for granted as unchangeable fact of life, despite several of them in permanent financial straits. And the big idea is let's add another club (which fortunately most club presidents don't support).

coaches votes on AFL website.. They couldn't not name Swans

10 Jake Lloyd (SYD)
7 Oliver Florent (SYD)
7 Nick Blakey (SYD)
2 Tom Papley (SYD)
2 Paddy McCartin (SYD)
1 Tom McCartin (SYD)
1 Dylan Stephens (SYD)

Congrats Dyl Stephens

You're watching the wrong show if you thought the Swans would get a mention on All Saints.

Not surprised, just making the observation lol.
