Gid is a legend and sadly writes for a paper no one reads. I'm biased as i've had a fair bit to do with both .

Whately is the epitome of the Melbourne media bias. Heard one of his shows, saying how West Coast came from nowhere to win in 2018, still can’t figure out how they won but they won. Said the Swans were similar this year. Probably because you pay very little attention to the interstate teams.
Has been on Carlton from about round 6 and is a big Geelong supporter.
Surprising as Bucks and Kingy have been bullish on swans would have thought he would listen more to the experts!
Makes perfect sense to have Pies there instead of us..
So they've won 1 in a row (just) against a side that has lost 4 in a row.
Vs us who have won 7 in a row (and stopped the Pies run) and we have recent finals experience.
Obvious stuff!

I'm gonna defend him here because his reasoning is sound. He's been consistent for weeks now that the idea of us being genuine contenders is hard to fathom, and I agree with him. I said as much here. We have gone from a rebuilding bottom four side to a clinical top four side so fast it's given many whiplash and I can understand why some wouldn't be convinced yet.
That would make sense, except he puts the Pies in front of us whose turnaround has been even quicker and far less convincing

Yeah that's a weird call, but I can only assume that's the VFL bubble.
I think when we plummeted down the ladder in 2019, the rest of the footy world just kinda forgot about us. Breathed a sigh of relief like, OK, the Swans are rebuilding, we won't have to worry about them for another handful of years. So now that we're strong on-field again, it's blindsided many. Collingwood are never out of sight or out of mind in the media, so nothing they do, whether good or bad, has the power to blindside those in the media.
That's just my theory!
