Caught the 2nd half, Hickey comes across as just a good human.

Sam Reid interview

Says some good words about the growth of Horse as a coach and his relationship with the players

Reid has actually been Horse's equal-longest serving player (came to the club the same off-season as JPK.)

You can see why Horse might've had the attachment to him and saw the need for him to stay on the list last year, even when many of us thought he was cooked and surplus to requirements.

(And thank God Horse trusted that instinct as he's been just about our best forward not named Buddy or Heeney this year.)

like Hickey, Reid comes across as simply a good human.
No wonder the draftees tend to punch above their weight.. leaders like Reid, Hickey (who aren't even in the leadership group), then the leadership group, and then theres Horse!
For me, it confirms exactly why JPK signed a 1 yr extension early 2021, and Rampe signed a 1 yr extension early 2022

Pretty remarkable that a player like Reid can forge a 12yr career (and counting) in the modern game.

Full credit to him and his manager.

His been a more than solid player for most of his career.

Game leading? No definitely not

But as a second/ third forward who can pitch down in defence, has good pressure and can chip out in the ruck. Most clubs would take him.

McStay is looking at a 600-700k contract and his never been as good as Sam Reid.

Gets ya wound up
It's pretty freaking annoying. Our issue is the media is mostly centralised in VIc and they pander to their home audience. Fair enough. But a little credit where its due would be nice once in a while.

Its not so much that we win - its that our opponents lose.

As we are in a Northern Market, how we win doesn't get the clicks and in turn the advertising dollars. It's how our opposition lost to us or beat us that brings in the views because that's what the majority of people are clicking through to read articles where we are involved.

Doesn't help when the code in NSW is mainly covered by media who come from other sports in a majority of cases and cover AFL to enable them to still cover their main sport.
