Episode 1 of the "Reconditioning" series with Bill Knowles

Love this, just seems so practical. And love that he's committed to working with the Swans fitness team to ensure it's not just a two week sugar hit, but something they can work on throughout the pre-season (and beyond let's hope).

Will Edwards is a beast. God I hope this program allows him to get his body right to have an opportunity to have a real crack at AFL level.

I'm curious, how do we reckon this cohort of players is going to go at integrating what they have learned into their training going forward? Somehow I have most faith in Logan, possibly because he strikes me as the most mature. Papley candidly confessed in episode 1 that he is not the most professional trainer, although that can always change as he realises he wants to prolong his career and needs to make extra effort.

First time I've seen the trampoline in the gym. I think it's new. Also the best footage I've seen of the pool facility (I've never laid eyes on it, nor the locker rooms).

At the end of the last episode when they were promoting the next, there was a shot of Amartey jumping and I was struck by how bouncy he was. Made a lot more sense when I discovered now that he was bouncing on a trampoline.

The work he's doing is great. I would love to see how it could be applied to midfielders. I'm not sure what his specialty is, as it seems he's focused on the running side of things and injury prevention. But I could see the same concepts being applied to midfielders, looking at the type of positions they need to get into, and optimising those movements, and training the specific muscles. Even small improvements 1% or 2% here or there could really sharpen up their movement and help enhance overall performance.

Here’s the kick inside 50, it’ll land in the square - Grundy battling with De Koning, Amartey wrestling with his trampoline…..

yep.. Amartey is too. Edwards Amartey and Paps all have super fast twitch muscles. I remember Kinnear saying a few years ago after resigning Amartey that 'people won't know, but Amartey is the fastest runner in the squad' (that ones for you #JHWF)
Ive done a fair bit of pilates after breaking literally almost every bone in my body (jaw, skull, 3 of 4 limbs + lots of little bits) and to me this training was all about core strength and re-aligning the body. It was basically pilates for the elite.
fwiw.. pilates got me from a wheel chair back to climbing mountains, hitting sixers in cricket, and out running the u16s local soccer players.. massive fan!

Agree unfortunately don’t mind the concept but the application is silly. By all means have northern clubs host games but play all sides. You could have northern clubs host games Friday and Saturday night as marquee games.
