We still get more net free kicks at the SCG than away from it, and the gap for home vs away is fairly similar to most other teams.

I think a big part of the reason for our free kick differentials over the last 25 years have been our tendency to have undersized key defenders playing 1v1, several of our rucks, some weirdly undisciplined key forwards, and our high tackle counts. I think there's an element of long term coaching continuity here.

Buddy was -60 FK by himself while at the Swans, nearly a tenth of the total differential. Other culprits include Parker, Goodes, LRT each about -50. Leo Barry and Heath Grundy were over -100 and so is Rampe. Barry Hall was -130!

In terms of rucks we've had that rotating cast of physical battlers. Pyke, Grundy, Hickey, Mumford, Naismith, Jolly, McLean all with moderately negative FK differences that which collectively also add up to well over -100. Across the years it's pretty much just Cal Sinclair who roughly broke even and Peter Everitt who earned a lot more than he gave away

Each and every free kick against LRT was a blight on the game & should have seen the offending umpire disbarred from the AFL.

IMO crowd noise at the SCG has been declining as a direct response to playing loud music after every goal. If you want to hear a chant you have to wait until the music stops, by which time momentum has been lost.

Love hearing it in Melb since there's no music after our goals. I think our fans generally save the noise for the 4th quarter comebacks. GWS & Collingwood last year was nuts. Remove the music & imagine the swans chants after those goals, maybe one day...
