Swans treasured possessions

My now tacky old cup (that you can’t put liquid in because it leaks) obviously has zero physical value but sentimentally it means a lot to me. I got it at the first live footy game I went to (at Kardinia Park). Weeks before the game Mum had told me of the clubs struggles & that the club might fold etc. I’d since seen things about it in the paper & on telly... So I saved all my pocket money for weeks beforehand then on the day I dragged mum around all over the place trying to find the merchandise tent. After a fair while (we walked right around the ground) we found it.

Once we found it, I picked out the cup. It was less than what I’d saved because I wanted to leave a donation. I walked up to the table & there were two older looking ladies at the table where you pay. She asked me where I was from and was a little taken aback when we said about 600kms away & came all the way down on the coach for my first live footy game & so I could donate my few dollars. I made one of the lovely old ladies cry when I said I wanted to save the club & donate the rest of my savings. She came out from behind the desk and gave me a hug! It was a really lovely moment. (She also managed to slip in a few extra badges and pens when she packed up my cup too!!)

Makes me happy thinking about it. :)
Thank you for that, a beautiful story and I'm so glad you still have the cup!
Made this lovely old lady tear up a little too!

What year was that game?

Ive got a very old South Melbourne pint glass ive only ever drunk out of on 4 occasions, 2012 2014 2016 grandfinals and oddly enough when i was pissed out of my head after we beat Richmond at Waverly in 1996 by a point.

Some very bleak seasons there, i remember us winning there in 1990 pretty sure Troy Luff kicked a few.
Did a bit of digging & reckon it was rnd 22 1991. I remember we lost & the blokes next to us who had smuggled in a slab of beer were loving it. I remember they were standing on the slab which became more dangerous as the game wore on, they got more drunk & they kept reaching down taking away vital supporting structure cans... I assumed all footy was like that until I went to a few more games years later! :p

Don't know about you guys but I'm definitely getting one these Rampe robes.

I have Callum Sinclair locked up in my dungeon. He’s in pretty good condition. Only bring him out for special occasions coz friends think you’re “weird” if you collect memorabilia.

I'm not one for collecting sports memorabilia but I do have a few little things from 2005 which I gave to my son. These include the GF edition SMH, 2005 membership card, model of Swans Toyota RAV4 and the official 2005 DVD. He keeps them with his Jetta signed football.

I also have great memories of games which I value above all else.

This ones a bit left field, its a signed copy a a speech Roosy 'borrowed' from Chuck Swindoll, and gave the boys before that game in 2005, you know the one, more important than the game 2 weeks later!!

My most treasured Swans possession is the mark Leo Barry took with four seconds on the clock in the 05 Grand Final.

Also very much treasure what Nick Malceski did with his possession from Dan Hannebery with 43 seconds to go in the 2012 GF.

I don't think I've ever been more excited about an item of clothing before. Once they are finally available I will, for sure, be wearing it to a game.

Bonus points if you wear the robe and nothing else.
