Charlie is right but that wasn't what I was looking for.
Chubb, you are spot on.

Carlton won premierships in 1906, 1907 and 1908 and South Melbourne cut them short at the four-peat to win our first flag.
The only other club to do that is Port Adelaide, which won its first flag while stopping Brisbane Lions' four-peat in 2004.
The other incidence was when Collingwood beat Melbourne in 1958, although that wasn't the Magpies' maiden premiership.

It is not a recent Swan. This was a time when league payments were so low that offers made by country clubs were many times those offered by VFL clubs.
