Even as an optimistic swannies supporter i have no doubt we will lose on the weekend. Not trying to be negative but if we win i will believe we can win the flag because if i was a betting man iwould put my house on the dees

Jesus, what kind of Monday morning gloom is this? As a Swans supporter, surely you've seen the kind of play we've been capable of in the last couple of weeks, barring the majority of the Tigers game. And the Demons are struggling at the moment, as they always would eventually (people forgot their 2004 fade-out too quickly, I think).

I really can't see why the boys won't be able to handle the Demons. They've got a great forward line, and our back line is vunerable at times (Schauble needs to come back, and LRT needs some time back in the reserves) but we're pretty tight elsewhere around the park. There's no doubt it'll be a tough game, but we're ready for it, Goodesy leading us all the way.

Your House? You're that pessimistic? After Saturday night, I'm sure you will feel a lot better.

Well the Dee's have already lost Brad Miller for this week with a bit of luck they might end up ike the cats. :D :p

mate, you are going to be homeless on Sunday if you tihnk the dees will be winning on Saturday night.

Sydney by 12 points.

Melbourne 0.7.7
Sydney 3.1.19

Flooding an issue. Melbourne sucking also an issue.

I think we can win. Always tough heading down to Melbourne to play a quality team like Melbourne, but they are out of sorts at the moment and it is honestly the perfect time to play them. We played some awesome football against Geelong while they were thrashed in Adelaide, i hope Jolly proves to be a handful. :p

You are right.Melbourne have to flood or they will be blown out of the water as Geelong were.I can't see how your soft midfield will win the clearances so Hall and O'loughlin will have to contend with the whole Melb team trying to nullify them.

Didnt know Brad Miller is out thats a big out for them because he nulified Hall last time we played however for some reason i doubt we will win that is all

And just to make it softer, Moloney and McLean are out too.

Melbourne have too much class across the ground. Their "slump" has been because they have played the best side this year, and last years two grand finalists, all "away". Probably not a harder 3 games in the comp.

They are still 2nd or 3rd best team in the comp, and at home them and the umpires will be too strong for the swans.

Tough game to pick IMO. The Dees are a classy side when they click - they have more consistent quality users of the ball than we do. And while they've been thumped for the past three games, look at the quality of their opposition.

Sydney vs Melbourne games often go against home ground advantage and often form as well - both teams have had good wins in recent years when the other has been favourite and often away from home.

Probable absentees from the Dees will hurt them, while we're as close to full strength as an AFL team can ever hope to be. Only Maxfield would have a claim to come into the team if he were available, and even that is marginal based on his early season form.

Leo looms as the key because if Neitz gets a few early kicks he's the kind of player who could dominate our undersized defence. The loss of Miller will be tough for Melbourne.

If our boys manage to get a decent share of ball in the midfield I suspect the Demons defence will struggle to contain our forward line - it is probably the weakest part of their line-up against the strongest part of ours.

I think we will go close if not take this one. Sydney is one team that
can rise to the occassion in this type of game yet go down in games
they should win.

I would consider starting Vogels at fullback moving Leo out to the
1/2 back flank, giving us more drive from the back line and give
Matthews a week off.

LOL - I think it is a dead set certainty that none of those three things will happen.

I wouldn't do that. Not sure about Vogels but isn't he a forward? It would be a risk considering he would be playing on Neitz who would probably kick 4+ on Vogels. Last time we played he was reasonably well held by Barry and I would do it again.

Vogels is fairly versatile, he came to the Swans after playing CHB and winning the Hampton league B&F. Obviously a big difference between that and playing AFL FB, particuarly on someone like Neitz. I imagine Roos will opt for Barry, I would rather see Schauble back in to take Neitz and Barry on a HBF.

Leo will get first crack at Neitz, I can guarantee that. Schauble may miss out again because of the injury to Miller, which means the only other tall forward they have is Holland which LRT will cover.

I honestly reckon we will win this week. The Dees in my opinion, aren't as good as they had been playing, and our boys are going great. I just want that little angry prick Colin Sylvia to start on Big Bazza.

I think the ruck will determine the winner of this game. Sydney have struggled to win recently when Jolly and Ball are beaten in the ruck, while last weeks game vs Geelong showed that ruck domination equals a big win. With King out the Swans run rampant in the ruck with 40 hitouts to 17.

If Jolly and Ball can better White then they will win.

I'm quietly confident that they can do it, there isn't a better time to play Melbourne, but the bounce back for Melbourne is concerning, but I'd prefer this than playing them if they had good wins agaisnt both of last years Grand Finalists.

Talk it up u swan supporters, i loving the fact u guys are. We are a sure thing now. the past 10 weeks i have been going on to the clubs the dees have been playing that week and to my suprise when they are cocky they lose but when they say it will be a good close game the dees lose. So the trend may and will continue. Thanks for ur support. ;)
