To be honest I’ve thought that overall Wicks has been a little overhyped on this Board but one quieter game still doesn’t mean that he deserves dropping at this stage.

Made an error with the post meant to say Bell.

McLean out for Buddy was the correct decision nobody can dispute that. McLean for McDonald is a conversation that may become a possibility down the track. Out of all the young players he is playing the toughest position and having to find his niche playing alongside a great of the game. Couldn't be easy. Probably gets a few passes especially whilst winning but for McLean's own development he shouldn't just come in only when Buddy needs a rest.

All this is probably moot when reserves finnaly start and players can actually show form for selection

Back six got their colours lowered tonight.
hard gig down back this year.. Rampe as always was great.. also thought McCartin, Cunningham and Dawson were pretty good.
There was always going to be young crew rotating.. maybe its Campbells turn??

Thought it was a great win and really don't want to put s**t on any player. Tough opposition, tough conditions, tough game... awesome win!

Actually he should as Logan will learn a bucket more playing with Buddy. With Reid'd form, McLean is the odd man out so to speak. He'll still play 10 odd games this year as a minimum as Buddy won't play many away games.

Yep, I think McDonald has done enough to stay in the side for now.

No doubt the coaches will be keeping a close eye on him and all the other youngsters to ensure their time in the senior side is benefiting their development and club in general. As soon as they think that’s not the case he’ll get a rest in the reserves.

Couple of observations watching the replay after being at the ground live.

McDonald was instrumental in the last quarter. Some great forward pressure and nearly set up 3 goals with some really sharp handballs.

I bagged Lloyd and Cunningham earlier but they stood up when they pushed a little further up the ground into the contest.

Disappointed in Mills bailing out of a contest with Tippa leading to Hooker's goal in the last minute. He needed to attack that ball.

Watching the interview after the game, Buddy looks super lean. Was great hearing him say he's not having another rest.

McLean will have plenty of opportunities this season with Reid, Franklin and McDonald being our KPF. It's nice that one of them could go down with an injury (which is pretty likely) and to have a competent back up ready and waiting.

I have more faith in the likes of gulden and Warner than I do Cunningham and Lloyd
Cunningham is critical the way the game is now played.

Has terrific closing speed and is one of our only defenders (along with Rampe) capable of covering a leading forward.

Our Defence wouldn’t function without him.

Lloyd went sideways a lot tonight (due to Essendon having a good game-plan) but is still a high class player.

Why does this board bag defenders for hack kicking it out of d50 but won't say a word about our mids doing the exact same thing and squandering our clearances?

Huh?
This board has bemoaned hack kicks from the mids ever since the days of O’Keefe. Like constantly mentioned it as a major issue with Parker as one of the main offenders

Another cracker of a game.

Should have won by more had the Bloods kicked straight. Saw 'em play the Lions round 1 to see your elite work rate and skills on show. Wow.

Bloody intense, tough, fierce pressure footy despite the conditions.

Both sides should be rapt with their draft haul from last year - some very, very special talents there.

Loved Horse's presser too - A CLASS ACT

See you in Round 20 for hopefully a reverse result.

Last line prevented the like

God help us after that , next you will saying they should have won

I actually did think they should have won, we had the umps on our side tonight.

Having said that we are definitely a much better side than last year. Being able to score quickly like we did in the second quarter makes a big difference.
