Autopsy Swans vs Eagles

Thing with Grundy is he needs to be the pillar with Rampe down...his start to the game stuffed us after we had all the run, he gave up two goals through shite disposal and shite decision making. He than did it again when we were on a little run and got to within 7 points. He has had a shocker. Given all the other things that went wrong his errors were the ones that really hurt. He kicked so short to everyone it stopped the play too often.

Jack was having a go, his skills let him down, but I am not sure he is done.

Marsh - Tick, I am liking him more and more. Foote had some moments, Loved Jones, Florent had his moments, Hayward a gun. parley was exactly what you would expect given his pre season, Reid was good and Buddy was just used in such a poor way , whilst being hobbled, was just as good as he could of been.

I would like to see some changes next week, and some senior players included in them. Just need to have someone to bring in.

Its a bonus when somebody actually watches the game properly and then posts with some footy smart observations. Good Points.

I do too and I'm not necessarily saying I agree with the way we play but just trying to explain why we play that way.
We did get to within a goal in the last quarter.
Personally I wouldn't mind Horse encouraging the players to be a bit more attacking even if it means our defenders are exposed more often, but I think we'll still be a defensively oriented side.
I think we need to be. Our biggest weakness for me is the fast spread from a turnover. The risk we take on to go on the offensive more often outweighs the benefit at this stage. Once we get some body on Florent & co & some extra games into doubleA, Marsh etc I think we can push to be more creative. ATM tho we are risking too much to do so.

Is this the worst GF hangover of all-time? I think it even beats Port 2008 at this point.

If we had the same side and injury free you could say that, but look at the team we are fielding its a bunch of NEAFL kids and seriously out of form senior players.

Love to know what the hell they did in the off season.

The thing is. How many times have people said "the Swans will be hurting from that performance, expect them to come out firing" and then it simply doesn't happen.

We need forward structure.
The amount of times players took a mark on the wing and Buddy was calling for it 10m's inside instead of being the next link in the chain.. It was even worse when it was Reid that marked it and buddy is right next to him.

WTFDWKIT?

Yes we did, but we could/should have been so much better if the issues that were obvious the last few years were actually addressed. We have been a bad kicking team in the midfield for years now, we have been bad going inside 50 for years as well. We have also been beaten up in the midfield far too many times in the really important games. All these things were obvious, none of them were addressed.
Cmon man, we have been smashed by injuries, playing kids etc, let's just chill and thank a pretend celestial being that we weren't smashed like the scum last week.

Nope you are being obtuse but that's ok.

I will point to the scoreboard in 2017 you take comfort in 2012.

Sadly, and with no joy, I win.

win what exactly? best role as over dramatic fan?

I am not the least surprised buy all this, i have faith in the club and the coaches. I think people are acting a tad precious, who knows things could turn around. But looking at the context of the injuries and the new young players I am not in hysterics about a lost season. i am with the coaches and thinking of the future.

I bet if we play the way you would like us to play with this current team we would be getting flogged by a good 15+ goals each week.

I'd agree with that, I think there were times tonight when the players didn't realise how much of a chance they were. I'm more saying that we can still be a defensively oriented side yet take the game on when we have the opportunity, like Kennelly used to do with his runs.

We are missing 1 player from the midfield, maybe 2 if you really stretch it. The core of the midfield is still there.

Love to know what the hell they did in the off season.

Weeeeellll they all trained the house down.

Unfortunately the unreported bit seems to be they trained it down on top of themselves. With no hard hat.

Positives:
Kennedy and Reid the pick of the senior blokes. Kennedy again carrying the midfield and thought Reid's stats didn't quite show justice for his game.

Marsh, Newman and Hayward were very impressive from the young guys.

The effort was there, but if we don't crack a win soon it won't be long before the energy is gone and we start getting belted.

Negatives:

Marsh is the only thing holding the defence together at the moment. Grundy still intercepts well, he needs to learn his foot skills are shit house and play within his limitations...he shouldn't even be attempting finesse 15m kicks. Infact nearly every single 15m kick from all our players was a turnover....just learn from mistakes please, it seems we never learn from our mistakes. Our structural flaws 3 years ago, are still our structural flaws today..only difference is the star power is reduced so the cracks aren't being covered anymore.

Footskills are deplorable, and our setup does not help out anyone. To many players flood back and stand in no mans land leaving us no release kicks out of defence. Don't even get me started on the forward setup. We are playing a FAR too negative game-style that is completely devoid of any attacking flair that would generally even slightly begin to trouble an opposition coach. Our players mark the ball. Stop. Think for a full 20 seconds, while the opposition set up. Get under pressure when called to play on and bomb wide or (try) chip to a nothing lead anyway.
Goals create energy, release the shackles a little bit ffs. Allow them to take a few risks, go down the middle once in a while. Plenty of kick-ins we had something on down the middle but instead went predictably to a wide (yet still somehow out ****ing numbered, despite the fact it's our play every single time) contest.

The state of the game is utter crap. Losing is one thing, but the actual game itself is ****ed!
-Umpires are completely useless and incompetent ....2 identical instances 30 seconds apart won't be adjudicated the same way. The standard of umpiring is getting worse and worse every year.
-Dropping the ball and throwing the ball are running rampant and clearly being let go purely because it might the AFL thinks the fans are complete simpletons and need 100 to 100 scores every week...but they will pluck one out of nowhere every now and then when it suits them (despite the fact 50 identical ones have been let go) which completely ****s the momentum for one team.
-Still have some blokes being rewarded for ducking pathetically.
-Don't even get me started on the random deliberates they pluck our nowhere.

The sport is just in an absolutely awful condition, becoming almost unwatchable.

No thanks...I saw enough turnovers tonight to last me a lifetime.

Id trade any of hanners parker or jack in a heartbeat for him

Hope Alli learnt a bit tonight - the first time he has really struggled but then again he was not alone which does not help
