A mate and his old man were going for the Grand Final but now said old man can't go. I'm taking over his flight etc (for free w00t) but I may have to change the name on the flight which costs over $100.

The last time I flew with Tiger I didn't even need photo ID, just anything with my name on it. Was going to try this with his name this time and not bother changing it. Smart thing to do to save $ and the fact Tiger are slack or change it to be sure.

Also, if I tried could I change it at the checkin counter there and then?

Yes, I am being a tight arse.

If you check-in online you can print out your boarding pass and you won't need ID at all. I am pretty sure anyway. This is assuming you are not checking bags of course.

That's what I've the last 3 times I've flown domestically, didn't have to show them anything and that was Virgin as well as Tiger. Was just trying to find out if anyone has tried it with Tiger. If one airline is going to be half arsed with ID checks it'll be them.

Having flown several times over the past year I can tell you not once have I been asked for photo ID once I've gotten my boarding pass. In fact, it'd be remarkably simple to get a free ride providing you knew the plane was not full.

Surprising given the constant "terror threat" the media and government attempt to portray.

Nah, had to change for flight back. The old boy who gave me the ticket was there for the trip over so he could check in and then I took the ticket. On the way back I decided to do the right thing and paid the changing fee ($170 or something). Good thing I did as they asked for ID when I arrived at Tullamarine. Still, got away with a pretty cheap flight for the GF weekend.
