To be fair, who is outwardly pro expansion?

The bids, sure. Bono. Bloodied. ND. That's about it? A couple of teams voted for but didn't give much more input. There's around 300 players in the league.

In all the talk of "the BC are against us" or "the committee is against us" where is the overwhelming support for expansion. IMO there's a bit of a con job going on that anybody bar a minority are asking for it.

Who is outwardly against? Three teams predominately have pushed against it in the Royals, Demons, Warriors (others have voted against in in committee however those votes were premature). I would almost say anybody with any passion for it would be arguing for so that chorus of voices you can't hear, that other 200 members of the Sweet FA are probably either against it or indifferent, neither a glaring reason to expand.

Kennedy Parker, Hate and myself have been fairly outspoken. The three of us have a fairly big thing in common when dealing with stuff like this, we've only been the admins for nearly ten seasons before Ant Bear took over. We've got a rough idea of the landscape of the league I would have thought. Not only are we veterans but we love this place enough we took on the most thankless role in the whole place.

If there was a huge outcry in the league in general for two teams doesn't it stand to reason that the bids would have collected more that 12 existing players? I think some of those players were near delisting from their current clubs. Just seems weird to me. I would have thought people would be smashing down the door for those new prime positions we keep getting told people are coveting.

For those that wonder our perspective, this is it. What are the reasons for expansion because they still haven't been answered in light of the above reasoning.
To be clear, I never argued against expansion as a concept, or even that the opportunity to do so exists at this time. Maybe it does.

All I've said is that the bids have not taken enough initiative in the latter half of the season to demonstrate potential value. The onus is on them to convince the league that they will be an enjoyable unit to post against, having an empty team thread for weeks for obvious reasons doesn't get it done.

You view recruiting me as a success story?!?!?!

I view you as a story.

As long as I make coin, I'll even help set up the sting

I disagree.

I don't think people believe clubs will start folding.

People are anti expansion, and are using the (poorly worded) veto.

But why are people anti expansion?

It's not because we have to travel more or they get draft concessions.
It's because they believe the league isn't strong enough to sustain 2 extra teams.

We're all on the same page.

I've not seen anybody that is anti-expansion as a principle.

That's different to thinking a team will fold if we expand though.

I'm not trying to get into a back ad forth. I mainly posted that rule to point out that it probably, by word, isn't being used correctly, and should be rewritten.

Why is there no provision in the rules to allow the new teams on a probationary period?

1 or 2 seasons, if their numbers are shit or it is having a detrimental effect on the current 12 clubs then they are out.

Honestly the trolls bid was the best bid, if they didnt get up no one should

Wasn't the last rule rewritten changing the fact you only needed a simple majority to oust an Admin to at least 75%?
Probably should wait a few seasons before we attempt any more.

Or maybe have them rewritten in plain sight.

1 or 2 seasons, if their numbers are sh*t or it is having a detrimental effect on the current 12 clubs then they are out.

The league is already enough of a circus.

The West Gate Trolls were first founded as a Qooty Club alongside an official Sweet F.A Expansion bid seeking entrance into the League in Season 14, with a group of largely new players looking to find a home under the Bridge. The Trolls S14 bid was rejected by then-Admin boncer34, but has re-emerged under the spiritual guidance of original founders Striker475 and Topkent. Also joining the bid are a host of promising and established Qootiers to push for a return after 10 long seasons in exile, and make a glorious first appearance in Season 24 of the Sweet F.A.

With a solid and established group of posters and a deep team full of leadership quality, the goal for the Trolls is to welcome in a majority new team to the League that is focused on posting quality and having a good time as a Club. The Trolls are planning on submitting a team list of 10 Current players, and 13 New players to ensure a healthy balance, and so no existing team is weakened to the point of capitulation by the expansion bid. We strongly believe we have the plan, and the people to bring expansion to the League next season in a viable and positive way.

About 3 names I recognise from S16, just two seasons later

Maybe because they knew many had already made up their mind?

I disagree Bono, I think those posters want what's best for the league. They are just thinking worst case scenarios that are unlikely to even happen.
What is best for the league is more subs.
Go get the feelers out.
when I first started posting here I got this weird inbox from Bowie. I said yeah nah but that’s what it’s like for this league.
There’s more volume? You know there is so you’re option is be selective or invite more.
I’d choose invite more, then you could get a regulation league.

That's a fair point, cause Im certainly not pro-expansionm and there are not that many people calling out for it..
I did agree with the brief Ant bear released, and if I had to vote I would vote in favour, but don't feel overly strongly.

I do feel many of the criticisms have been unfair.

I think the crux of it is that some dont think it will work, which is fair enough, I dont pretend to know whether that is true. Those with that position in my opinion are making criticisms of the bids that are unfair.

Where are Millky95 Dingster SarahSmiles ? Should they not be here defending their right to join the league? I mean we're all here arguing about their club should the leaders of said club not chime in? I've seen haydo created a thread and The Jesus has been vocal but should the pawns not also get involved? Wreaks of posters who don't really give a shit if the bid fails and their the ones trying to get these teams over the line.

Fwiw im pro expension one club at a time. You just can't dilute the league with too many non contributors at once.

At this point in time, those who don't want expansion won't be swayed. And pointless shit-slinging back and forth isn't really in our MO. I also made a post in this very thread yesterday that was ignored by most that weren't already pro-expansion. Hence, my earlier point.

Behind the scenes we are talking with those that might be undecided or are still asking us questions and those are productive.

Appreciate the tag, though

Can understand your hesitation but I will point out one thing. The captains may be the ones putting the club votes together but they are (or should be, I can't speak for clubs other than my own) getting votes from their LG/VC members and the opinions vary. Some of those posters arent totally convinced either way. By holding back from the public eye and dealing only behind the scenes then those members are reliant on being given all the information by their captain. If the captain were to leave out any information be that intentional or not then those that are making the majority vote for the club can't form an informed decision. Essentially your not get your argument across to all the right people.

any captain who does that should frankly be turfed by their LG

people blame "the committee" for a whole lot of shit, but they also have an obligation to make sure their captain is accountable to them, and is representing their views properly
