A Swiss player started the trouble by kicking some Turkish guy. Stop bagging Turks, i wonder what nationality are you?

Wrong. The Turkish coach kicked a player. Not to mention the Swiss players had to run from the pitch because of all the missiles being thrown from the stands.

Apparently Blatter was disgusted with the vision shown around the world and is considering banning Turkey from some competitions - good move.

And I'm Australian.

has anyone got footage of the scene so we can all judge it ourselves without saying he did this and they did that..

Turkey issued Cup ban threat
From correspondents in Geneva
November 17, 2005

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has threatened to ban Turkey from the 2010 World Cup following violence at the 2006 World Cup play-off against Switzerland today.

Blatter told Swiss radio he was livid and threatened sanctions.

"Something is going wrong in football," he said.

"I've never seen anything like it."

The Swiss Football Association's complaint to FIFA will be heard before the 2006 World Cup draw on December 9.

Switzerland lost a dramatic second leg 4-2 in Istanbul but advanced to the 2006 finals on the away goals rule.

The players clashed in the tunnel, with Switzerland defender Stephane Grichting reportedly taken to hospital.

Switzerland coach Kobi Kuhn was also hit by coins, and press officer Pierre Benoit said the incidents would be reported.

Tuncay Sanli scored a hat-trick for Turkey, which finished third in the 2002 World Cup, but Marco Streller's 84th-minute goal put the Swiss through.

The match ended with tempers fraying, and television footage showed Switzerland player Benjamin Huggel kick a member of the Turkish coaching staff as he ran off the pitch.
Then former Aston Villa defender Alpay aimed a kick at Streller as the Swiss goalscorer went down the tunnel towards the dressing rooms, and the trouble erupted.

Grichting was taken to Acidem Hospital in istanbul after being kicked in the groin, according to reports.

Turkey striker Halil Altintop, who plays for Kaiserslautern in the german Bundesliga, played down the clashes.

"A few of our players overreacted after the match but I am happy there were no serious incidents," he said.

"I was in the Swiss locker room and talked to the players I knew from the Bundesliga. They said everything was fine

Footage here: http://www.streamload.com/shaolinax/Kicking-Beni.wmv shows that it was indeed a member of the Turkey camp who initialiated the fight kicking the shins of a Swiss player running by with a later Swiss player retaliating.

It's a shame Turkey can't be more sporting and civil. I really enjoyed their performances in '02 and was looking forward to seeing them back for Germany '06 but now I'm quite glad the Swiss pulled through. After the events of the past four days, the Swiss well and truly deserve to be in Germany next year.

Did any1 see the Swiss player kick some Turkish guy, then the Turks saw it and took it into their own hands, Most of the Swiss players were brawling to, nothing happens to them but, Alpay got taken down by a few Swiss players

FIFA really need to take some actions against Turkey and their FA. But i wouldnt be surprised if it is swept under the carpet for now. It has been happening far too long in Turkey only for FIFA to issue fines etc. Hit them hard for a change!

As the good ole saying goes if this were English supporters FIFA would of been all over it like a rash and would of banned them from Europe for another indefinite period of time.

I will think you will find that was after he attempted to kick a Swiss player who was running into the tunnel.
