Freo have done bloody well to build an OK supporter base considering the hand the AFL dealt them.

Just on the last point, and this goes with all of the WA and SA teams, did the AFL even bother to do any research on the number of players who played 150 WAAFL, SAANFL games within the window, compared with VFL/AFL 100 game players for the VIC/re-location teams? Or did they arbitrarily choose 150 games and the length of the window?

I have never understood why GWS was given a better start than Gold Coast. Was Kevin Sheedy's influence, or more to it?

It wasn’t that much better for GWS but GC blew a lot of their picks. What GWS were smart was they invested on off field things and they drafted in the right experienced guys. GC traded in poor ones at the beginning.

More they screwed the pooch in who they brought in to start the club than we got given a better start.

They got in 1st and got the best player in the league.
