Here are the list of teams we played in 2007 and teams we will play in 2008 at the SCG

2007
Round 3 - Brisbane Lions
Round 5 - Melbourne Demons
Round 8 - Port Adelaide Power
Round 10 - Essendon Bombers
Round 14 - Fremantle Dockers
Round 15 - Carlton Blues
Round 17 - Richmond Tigers
Round 21 - Hawthorn Hawks

2008
Round 2 - Port Adelaide Power
Round 7 - Western Bulldogs
Round 10 - Richmond Tigers
Round 12 - St Kilda Saints
Round 17 - Adelaide Crows
Round 19 - Fremantle Dockers
Round 22 - Brisbane Lions

Does anyone notice anything about that list of teams. With afew minor exceptions they are all crap (or atleast thought to be crap when the draw was announced. I love how the Swans have a advantage at the SCG but would it be great to use that advantage against difficult teams so instead of playing beating Port Adelaide by 60 points we could beat Geelong by 1 point. Im not sure i have a point but i would like to see the Swans play some of the tougher opponents at the SCG where we have a advantage instead of playing the piss weak teams who we could beat with our eyes closed and where the SCG advantage doesnt matter as we would win no matter where we play.

What do you all think?

The huge matches are all played at ANZ stadium.

Collingwood, Essendon (??), West Coast and Geelong. We've basically listed 11 out of the 15 teams we play at home. So basically you're saying that around 70% of the teams in the AFL are crap?

No im just saying that most of those teams which we play at the SCG would be teams which we would be expected to beat no matter what ground we play at. I would like to play teams which we are not expected to beat at the SCG so we can use the advantage we have at the ground to actually beat them.

I can only name the round 22 match last year. We were expected to lose but we won that one.

I'm not sure what you are driving at with the "shit teams" theme - clearly they schedule the (expected) highest drawing/interest games out there regardless of how difficult we are likely to find the opponent. Case in point - Essendon and West Coast at ANZ Vs Adelaide and the Bulldogs at the SCG.

However, I take your point that we seem to play the SCG better than ANZ, and that if we were purely motivated by on field success then we'd likely be better off playing all home games on the smaller ground. From a selfish point of view I'd love that to be the case as I live right near Moore Park. I'm thinking that perhaps when the Western Sydney is launched, they might consider reducing the number of Swans games out West in order to clearly demarcate/differentiate the Swans and W.Sydney. I expect they'll be marketing along an East (elite, yuppy) Vs West (working class) stereotype.

Or maybe I'm just hoping I'll get more use out of my SCG membership than in recent years =/

Port Adelaide - Last Years Grand Finalist.
St. Kilda - Expected by Many pre-season to be contenders
Adelaide - Been a long time since we beat them anywhere
Bulldogs - Very good side, but poor following
Freo - Highly fancied pre-season, but no supporters
Richmond - crap
Brisbane - competitve.

In reality 6/7 of the sides would be considered very good chances of making the 8.

So whilst we don't play the big crowd pullers at the SCG, we certainly play good teams.

Telstra Stadium because it has a greater capacity needs to be the venue for the big name clubs

You'd prefer to play the Crows in Adelaide??
It hasn't mattered where in the past couple of years ..

The last Sydney/Geelong match I went to was in 2000, i know we played them here in 2005, but any other games besides that?
I'd love to play them at the SCG again. Feel so much more involved than at ANZ.

Its all to do with greed. The "blockbusters" (use the term lightly) are held at ANZ because they get more people and more people = more money. It was interesting to note though that the whole upper tier on one side of ANZ was completely vacant for the WC game havent seen that for a while at a swans game.
