A young man has been shot dead in Sydney’s southwest Saturday morning, and police are investigating whether the killing is linked to a gang conflict.
Reports of a shooting on Knox Street, Belmore were made to emergency services at about 4am on Saturday.

'A slain gangland figure's nephew has been shot dead outside a home in Sydney's south-west this morning.
....
Detective Chief Superintendent Darren Bennett has confirmed the man is Mahmoud 'Brownie' Ahmad's nephew.'

'Bennett said police had not warned the man that he was a possible target nor did he have an extensive criminal history.'

'Two cars were found torched in Croydon Park and Bexley North a short time later and police are investigating if they are linked to the shooting.'

He's been publicly named by the media now.

The pic below is a screenshot from the article below in the Daily Tele just now.
(I did not get it from FB).

'Shooting victim was gangster ‘Brownie’ Ahmad’s nephew Rami Iskander

FIRST PICTURE: The man shot dead in Sydney’s southwest this morning has been confirmed as the nephew of slain gangster Mahmoud “Brownie” Ahmad.'

'May 14, 2022 - 12:21PM'

'Paramedics fought in vain to save the life of Rami Iskander after they rushed to Knox Street in Belmore just before 4am following reports a man had been shot.
Sources confirmed shortly before 10 am Iskander was the nephew of “Brownie” Ahmad who was gunned down last month.
Iskander, aged 23, had suffered gunshot wounds to his torso.'

Some early reported Police theories on this early morning's Belmore murder.

'Mahmoud Ahmad’s nephew shot dead in second gangland shooting in four days'

'Iskander had just returned to the duplex he shared with his heavily pregnant wife and their two-year-old child, when he was shot on the driveway by at least two gunmen.

'Detectives have two primary theories about the death - that Iskander was involved in the attack on Tarek and Omar Zahed at Auburn’s Bodyfit gym on Tuesday this week and was killed as revenge, or that he was threatening to avenge his uncle’s murder and was killed before he got the chance.

A perceived slight on another organised crime figure’s wife is also a theory.'

Was the latest victim known for gangland activity or chosen because he was a relative of a nemesis (and presumably an east & unprotected target). If the later is true, that would be a serious escalation if innocents are being targeted in retaliation.

Edit. Sound like he doesn’t have an extensive criminal history but possibly was plotting to avenge the death of his uncle.

Go listen to this morning's media conference I posted before your post.
That's as much info as you will get.
All the media reports since then have no more than what was said at this media conference.
But there is a bit more more said in the media conference than in media articles as a result of it.

Didn’t see it but thanks. Now I have.

Unfortunately he died but I don’t think he was coming home from work at the time of his murder. I wonder what he was out doing? Having a quiet drink?

Imagine if he was involved in the shooting from a few days ago and now he's dead days later.

How pointless.

Strike Force Bati has been formed for this morning's Belmore murder.

'Strike Force Bati has been created to investigate the shooting, led by the Homicide Squad with assistance from the designated gang-fighting squad, Raptor.

Multiple crime scenes are being examined by specialist forensic officers as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.'

One line of inquiry being explored is whether the 23-year-old was targeted for planning to avenge the fatal shooting of his uncle, underworld figure Mahmoud "Brownie" Ahmad, who was gunned down in Greenacre last month.

Another theory is whether Mr Iskander was involved in the shooting of senior Comanchero bikie Tarek Zahed, 41, and younger brother Omar at an Auburn gym last Tuesday.

Heavily armed police this morning raided 29 locations across south-west Sydney as the net closed on the Alameddine organised crime network, and its alleged large-scale drug supply operation.

Officers arrested 18 alleged low- or mid-ranking members of the Alameddines — aged between 19 and 39 — and seized 36 mobile phones gangsters have allegedly been killing each other to control.

Police will rely on intercepted phone calls to prosecute some of the 18 alleged members of the Alameddine crime network who were arrested in sweeping gangland raids across Sydney's south-west yesterday.

SIMply fraudulent (allegedly).

No idea how these darkly colourful alleged criminals, think they will get away with crimes like this for too long nowadays.
Maybe the planned getaway strategy, is to disappear overseas, and some of them leave it too late to do this.

'Mobile phone store manager charged after thousands of fraudulent SIM cards used by OCNs detected
Friday, 27 May 2022 09:16:08 AM'

'He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 27 May 2022).'

'Investigations under Strike Force Sugarcane continue.'

'May 27, 2022 - 1:46PM'

'The manager of a mobile phone store has been refused bail, after police allege he sold thousands of fraudulent SIM cards to the Alameddine crime clan, which were used to sell drugs via the group’s dial-a-dealer network.

Police swooped on 30-year-old Nou Silena Loeung while he was on shift at Granville’s Mobiletown on Thursday, arresting him over links to the Alamedine’s alleged ‘Ready 4 War’ dial-a-dealer network.

Police allege the group was controlling a significant illicit drug distribution chain from importation through to street-level supply.'

Another one tonight.

'Former Lone Wolf bikie Yusuf Nazlioglu is reportedly in a serious condition in hospital after being shot multiple times in a car park in Sydney’s inner west tonight.

Police and emergency services were called to Walker Street, Rhodes about 6.30pm where they found Nazlioglu who had been shot several times.'

'He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.'

'The shooting appears to be targeted and may be linked to a recent spree of underworld shootings across Sydney.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries with the assistance of a number of specialist units.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward and contact Burwood Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.'

Yusuf Nazlioglu did not survive last night's Rhodes NSW shooting.

He was found not guilty of the 2018 murder of Mick Hawi, a former boss of the Comanchero bikie gang, at a September 2020 trial by jury.

'Former Lone Wolf Yusuf Nazlioglu has died in hospital after being shot up to 10 times'

'A burnt out getaway car was found in nearby Leeds St.'

'Nazlioglu was charged by police with murder in 2018 when Hawi, a former boss of the Comanchero bikie gang, was fatally shot in broad daylight out the front of a gym in Rockdale.

A jury ultimately found Nazlioglu was not guilty of Hawi’s murder.

He had also been charged with an unrelated gun offence shortly after he was arrested over Hawi’s death.'

To work at a primary school!

The mother of an alleged Alameddine gang member has been charged after providing a fraudulent COVID-19 vaccination certificate to work at a primary school in Sydney’s west, police will allege.

Jeanette Catherine Jeske, the mother of Trent Jeske – who is allegedly a member of the Alameddine crime network – was arrested on Tuesday after a police investigation into her son’s alleged involvement in the crime clan led to a raid on her Merrylands home.

Police will allege the 55-year-old woman obtained the fake vaccination certificate last October from her connections to the Alameddine group

The primary school employee, who works as an administration manager, was charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception, dealing with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000, and participating or contributing to criminal group activity.

She was refused bail and will face Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday.

Another arrest:
A second man has been charged over his alleged role in the murder of underworld boss Mahmoud 'Brownie' Ahmad in Sydney's south-west earlier this year.

A 49-year-old man was charged over his alleged involvement in the murder last month and now NSW Police have also charged Jason Laria, 37, for his alleged role in planning the murder.

Mr Laria was arrested at a home on Loftus Street at Fairfield East about 5.30pm yesterday and was later charged with a range of offences including accessory after the fact to murder, knowingly or recklessly directing a criminal group, and taking part in the supply of a prohibited drug.

Although two men have now been charged over the planning of Ahmad's murder, police are yet to determine who actually fired at him.

11.05.2022: Gang Wars Escalate. Comanchero kingpin Tarek Zahed and his brother Omar sustained multiple gunshot wounds after being hit with a hail of bullets at Bodyfit Fitness Centre, in Auburn in Western Sydney, just after 8pm last night.

A Sydney crime figure, Bilal Hamze, has been gunned down in a Sydney alleyway in a brazen CBD attack.

Hoping this isn’t going to spark an escalation between crime groups in Sydney.

'Bikie enforcer Tarek Zahed is ARRESTED over a 2014 murder just three months after he was shot 10 times in a gangland hit and miraculously survived'

'Believed to be living in Melbourne in the wake of the assassination attempt.'
