Looks like the Sydney Kings might be resurrected. Two groups are bidding for the Kings licence, one is former Kings owner Harry Cousens and the other is businessman Paul Lindholm who has more money. Hopefully the Kings are alive for next season.

Anyone know what Harry Cousens was like as owner last time? why did he leave?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news....

As much as i disliked them it's really sad to see. :(
Loved to hate them but the league will never be the same :(:(:(

Maybe the two bids should have merged? since one had the money and the other had the brain. Oh well doesn't matter now.

So much for what Seamus McPeake said:

"We have two healthy, strong consortiums applying for the Sydney licence, and one in Brisbane, and by Tuesday we should be able to announce what is happening," said Melbourne powerbroker Seamus McPeake. "It is 100 per cent certain that at least one of them will be approved by then and every chance that both (drop-outs) will be replaced."
Look on the bright side:

The upcoming season will see the 11 clubs playing 30 games each with an as yet determined reduction in the eight-team finals.
At least the 8 team finals is dead too.

werent they (sydney not the kings itself) part of the reason why the nbl is in the state its in? the nbl mistakenly went pro sydney and its unfortunately brought the league to its knees
The list of reasons why the NBL is in the state that it is in would be longer than my arm, but that is one contributing factor.

But in any case, you have to wonder what impact this will have on television revenue.

I think it time to close the NBL down for 6 months and start again after implementing all of the review findings. This situation in Sydney and Brisbane is a joke.

Have a new team in Sydney and Brisbane with 8 other clubs and start the ____ again.

Yep it’s a long, long list but at the very top of that list is NO MARKETING
