John Versace, a plumber who worked for his Dad and only 23 years old was executed in his driveway in front of his family home. John has no criminal links, he's a cleanskin. The second Sydney shooting in one week and the 30th since August 2020.

The victim had just parked his ute on the driveway of the family home about 10:30pm when the gunman ran toward him and fired up to 10 shots from "very close proximity".

"This was an extremely brutal, violent execution of this young man at his home address in front of his parents," Superintendent Hart said.

"The victim saw [the gunman] and backed up unfortunately against the garage door and the male who was dressed in all black ... raised his right hand and was armed with a small hand gun ... and at very close proximity shot up to 10 times at the victim."

A burnt out car was later found in Fairfield, expected to be linked to the shooting.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Regiment Grove, Winston Hills, about 7pm after reports of gunshots.

Witnesses have told police a man was shot while getting into his car.

It is understood the man, believed to be in his 20s, was shot in the car before walking to a nearby home for assistance.

They never address the root cause, social inequality. Politicians who are "tough on crime" usually just exacerbate the problems, but it buys votes from those with superiority complex.

Bit simplistic. You could have complete social equality and there'd still be gangs and crime. It might be exacerbating the problem but the problem won't ever go away. It's unfortunately human nature.
