Nope. And after 2017 itll be a rectangle.I still agree GWS finals should be held at ANZ. Regardless.
True, so finals will be played at the SCG in the future where the crowd is expected to exceed the Showgrounds capacity.Nope. And after 2017 itll be a rectangle.
So regardless we wont be able to, physically, play there.

Jon Ralph reporting tonight on fox that GWS have today unveiled a plan to upgrade spotless to 30,000, following a similar model to Geelong in terms of upgrading it bit by bit, though a quick scan of the GWS website and a google news search suggests that there has been no such announcement. He also wrote the following on the HS website:

The Giants will soon return to their Spotless Stadium home after several games at Canberra’s Manuka Oval.
GWS chief executive David Matthews said the club was keen to increase its capacity from 25,000 to 30,000 in coming years.
The ground is also shared with the Western Sydney Wanderers while their oval is developed and used by BBL team Sydney Thunder.
“In a short space of time we are going to be needing to upgrade Spotless and get a bigger capacity there,’’ he said.
“It is 25,000 capacity and the next stage would go to 30,000. We have 2.2 million people in western Sydney and we are planning around the Geelong model.
“We are keeping an interest in how Geelong has added seasons to Simonds Stadium.”

It will be interesting to see how soon this gets off the ground, and if they can actually get the funding given that the recent plan for funding stadiums from the (state?) government didn't include it.
Do they have any of the "temporary" seats (over the dirt track) in use for BBL? Straight they'd be out to aid the length of the ground but what about at midwicket?
Its a matter for finals and derbies as we dont want to play them at the scg.Sorry, when did GWS start filling their stadium enough to warrant more seats? I can understand why plans would be in place if lack of seats becomes an issue, but that's not even close to happening now.

Plus the thunder sell theirs well and other events pull a crowd.
And? Plenty of empty seats in other grounds during games.More seats though means more empty seats for GWS. It just doesn't seem like the sort of thing they would want at this point in time. The final against West Coast was a tad embarrassing for that reason.

Itll be full often enough for the benefit to be worthwhile.
More often than most rugby grounds.

That's not a very productive comment to the discussion and reflects poorly upon yourself. Think twice before posting in the future.Suns games get more so haha..your team is just full of bandwagon so-called 'supporters'

At least the Giants have something to bandwagon onSuns games get more so haha..your team is just full of bandwagon so-called 'supporters'
To be frank. Its a tv game.Actually, since I'm here and while we're on the topic, why are NRL crowds so poor. I don't feel like it's because of AFL but surely there's a reason.
League?? It's far better on telly than live!As someone who grew up in perth and had no exposure to league at all during 80s and 90s (and even SoO was on after midnight back then), i really only started seeing the game in the last 10 years or so. And i think its a terrible tv game (better live at stadium).
The only GWS 'home' finals that would ever possibly shifted to the SCG would be games against the Swans, and preliminary finals against big Victorian sides. Even then, maybe only Richmond or Collingwood.More seats though means more empty seats for GWS. It just doesn't seem like the sort of thing they would want at this point in time. The final against West Coast was a tad embarrassing for that reason.
I would say its a 2/10 live and 1/10 on tv.League?? It's far better on telly than live!
