Can't imagine what it must be like knowing you're going to spend Christmas in prison.

[PLAYERCARD]Steele Sidebottom[/PLAYERCARD] was roaming the streets half naked during a city wide lock down, the cops just gave him a lift home and that was the end of it.

No doubt Syd has stuffed up numerous times but I think after a jail stint to go with his 12 game suspension means for me he's paid his penance.

I think Misfud was caught out with his first argument that no-one had been gaoled for COVID offences so has twisted his argument to suit the soapbox he is standing on

Stack is locked up for leaving self quarantine to go to a party. Alongside a woman who worked as a medical professional treating people when she should have been in quarantine, and a man who repetedly left his quarantine hotel with a ladder to party and then return to the hotel, and a woman who smuggled past the border by hiding in a truck. Stacks behaviour was in no way acceptable, but is also nowhere near what those people did and he absolutely wouldn't be locked up without bail if he was white. You can't honestly say you think he is the first person to leave quarantine for a party.

Also, it's been reported he wasn't even given the chance to appear at the bail session (along with the other guy) because the prison he is in didn't have the facilities to do it in a covid safe manner. That's not a race question, that's an extremely troubling legal question. When you get into locking people up temporarily then holding them indefinitely because you didn't provide the ability to attend the hearing, that's an extremely worrying proposition. What was stack meant to do, break out of jail to attend? Stacks non attendance is entirely on the prison/police, and you know they would have bent over backwards to held had he been from the Perth equivalent of Toorak.

Your comments are disgraceful. There is absolutely no racism involved here and you are right out of line. SS is in isolation for no other reason than he's a Dhead. Don't try and make more of the situation. Apportion the blame for his incarceration where it truly lies....SS.

You’ve answered your own statement, 4 of those 5 are white and they were all put into jail, unfortunate a Sydney indiscretion timing at Xmas, it has nothing to do with race as much as you would like it to be

OK, so he went home to Grandfather's funeral, had a 'family argument', moved out and was found out because someone (else presumably) had a fight in the street. This sounds more like he has a totally screwed up family, and he isn't mature enough to deal with it well.

And how did the police find out he was there? This all sounds weird. Like many other thing about Sydney, it's all strange.

They found out because he was involved in a brawl, if he hadn’t gotten into a brawl do you think that the cops would have found him.

You know it’s a strange thing that a fight breaks out betweem]n some drunks at 1-40 in the morning , in a nightclub district and the cops respond.....what a strange world we live in.

In Qld again the cops respond to a brawl, do you think they would have been busted if they weren’t fighting?

I thought Mifsud spoke with perfect reason in that article. I don’t think he said that nobody had been locked up for Covid breaches, rather that he wasn’t aware of it happening.

He also went to pains to point out he didn’t think there should be no consequences and that people need to follow rules in these situations.

“I wouldn’t be arguing there’s no consequence, because that’s what a civil society needs – a set of rules that helps guide and direct us,” he said.

“But what I do know is you should always support the person and challenge the behaviour.” '

Those are not the words of someone on a soap box. That looks to me a perfectly sane and balanced statement about the situation. Mifsud has stopped short of saying what specifically should have been done in the alternative, but given his background I am sure he would have some developed thoughts around the issue.

Again, in these comments, qualified and questioning rather than stating:

Mifsud had earlier turned to Twitter in response to a media report that Stack would spend more than two weeks in a cell.

“If I’m reading this correctly, and Stack is in custody for breaching COVID-19 restrictions, how many other Australians have also been detained in custody for the same issue?” Mifsud wrote.

“This would be the first I’ve heard that someone has been detained in custody for breaking the restrictions and, now for some weeks as the system absurdly and ridiculously says Stack cannot be spoken with.”

As an aside, I am not certain but I suspect Stack’s deceased grandfather is the one who Stack was close to and was somewhat of a mentor to young Sydney. I definitely read one article where he quoted his Grandfather as teaching him good things about football. So this may be a factor for people to consider, just what impact the passing of his Grandfather had on Stack.

Maybe he referred to stack as a juvenile for his actions
only a juvenile or an idiot would risk a AFL career earning potentially 5-6 million which he looks to be doing

If Stack has had troubles and struggles, I hope we stick by him and help him through life to be the best he can be. I love the Marlion story - everyone needs a chance at redemption and, as a parent, with Sydney, we are talking about a young individual finding his way. Until we know the full story about this kid and where he’s been and what he’s been through, I’m totally reserving any judgement. And if the club can give this kid a chance and guidance to live a great life then I couldn’t be prouder of being a Tiges fan.
