It's a serious charge, he could get six months.

Given the club said yesterday they couldn't get any legal representation across the (closed) border, perhaps Stack's defence requested an adjournment?
It's not a serious charge Ron. Hundreds and hundreds of people have done the same or worse and have not faced jail, much less extended jail.

No idea why the hearing would be postponed, only guessing. Maybe Gale with his background wants the "right" representation to be present. The stakes are pretty high.

reckon now that his isolation period is done they want to give him a taste of being in the general population as well coz that's how they roll in WA

So you consider this fair. Left or right has not say in this.

What fair? He has no registered property in the state and couldn't be trusted to stay at the one he nominated. Quarantine in lockup was justified.

His lawyer asked for the hearing to be adjourned today.

Others have copped six months' imprisonment for the same thing Syd is charged with. Whether anyone considers that fair or not has nothing to do with it. Those are the rules.

Edit: Turns out the maximum is 12 months, which would be (AFL) career over.

FFS I had this elsewhere. I'm not going to do another search for reports on people who've been jailed over flagrant breaches in WA. Google it.

Syd is in strife.

This is insanity...breaching CV19 restrictions (very low risk) ...serves a very harsh 12 days behind bars as a penalty...now likely extended

this is putrid...what the hell is going on?

people commit murder...rape ...and are slapped on the wrist....a month behind bars for Stack,,,piss off...worlds gone mad

i feel for Stacky...this would be a very troubling time for him....hope he hangs in there

And we can find other examples of people who have breached in a similar manner in WA who were granted bail unlike Stack who is yet to be convicted of anything.

I understood and agreed with the club’s decision to not get involved before, but now that this is getting extended, I really hope we put an arm around him as a Richmond man and do everything in our power to get him home.

Ah I really don't want an argument over this. What you or I say is irrelevant. He's very obviously in a serious situation.

What was the explanation, I just heard case adjourned

I have no idea.

Grrr and others have been saying this is an unfair and unjust decision, but I want to know what they alledgely know about the case that I don’t, especially why the magistrate made it in the first place.

What i want to know is -

Why did his solicitor ask for an adjournment?
Why didn't his solicitor seek bail today ?
Why did his solicitor successfully (after the adjournment) apply for a bail hearing on Friday ? ( that was granted, and if unsuccessful will spend another 12 days in "jail" not quarantine jail)

Is it all part of the legal process, or did Stacky do something?

One of the most notorious cases was Natalia Nairn the dentist. Instead of doing her 14 days quarantine when she entered WA she treated 41 patients. When she was caught doing that she was told to stop and remain at home for a later court date but then she also wasn't home when the police later went to check on her.

Even after all that it was only when she failed to appear in court that she was held behind bars.

She was sentenced to 2 months jail, with 7 months suspended.

just to set ppl minds at ease, i heard Mike Amor (7 news) explicitly said RICHMOND lawyers will apply bail for Stack this Fri..can't find a twitter clip sorry.

EDIT: think both Sun/Age saying bail on Fri (all seem to agree on that) but i definitely heard Mike Amor mentioning Richmond lawyers.

However she is a WA resident with a WA residential address - Stack isn't - although if he loses his Richmond contract he could argue he is a WA resident now or will become one almost immediately. Not sure what difference that it makes but it seems to infer some sort of preferential treatment.........

You could also argue that her breaches were much more calculated and blatant.

Here's another woman who broke out of hotel quarantine on boxing day and openly said she was "going to take the police on"
Granted bail! But now back in jail after a push from the media and police.

That's what people overlook. Stack has no address and lied to the police about the Belmont address.
The woman today who was rearested and sent back to prison also lied about her new quarantine address.

"Straight faced" and "yep" is the reaction of someone who knows the situation is serious.

He would've been told at the outset that it's serious. I took the "Yep" as Syd having been told we're not ready to have the case heard right now, but sit tight for two more days and we'll get you out on bail, and Syd being accepting of the situation.

Was introduced to the court as Richmond Footballer Sydney Stack with consistent replays of Vickery whacking Cox being played during the hearing .
Another case of WA trying to become relevant .

Elijah Taylor bashes his girlfriend with a belt and holds her against her will when she says she's going to the police in WA. No jail! 5k fine and now he's looking to fly over to Vic to train with Sandringham.

What the **** is up with this backwards state?

Lol, I listened to that interview today, talk about a drama queen, I mean full blown drama queen.

She (the lawyer) admitted "it was her fault" as she didn't check the address she was given and was desperate to pass the blame to the police.
The lawyers"characterised voices" when depicting the nice sargent at freo watchhouse compared to the evil detective who rearrested jenny was hilarious

Should add she is now in maximum security on remand, that's how serious it is.

And 10 minutes after that interview a legal expert commented (naturally not mentioned in the ch7 link) he has no issue with her being rearrested and going to high security.
She's openly taken on the authorities over covid, refused testing, refused quarantine, posted on social media she will bust out and ignored authorities, then lied on her bail address, and only handed herself in when her duty solicitor contacted her about the wrong address.

As he said, on the surface it sounds harsh, like Stack, but if everyone took a similar approach covid could be rife in the state.

* it also came across as she was the same duty solicitor who represented Stack the first time.
