IMHO I think your story reflects what most teenage lads go through. Sydney is no different and with the systemic rascism and difficulties in his upbringing it can be argued that his 'education' has been hindered more than the average young man.

I'm not here to bag the lad, nor am I here to offer excuses. What I try and do is put myself in his shoes to give myself a better understanding of his situation.
That’s a great post, wish we all thought like that, please don’t post in a political forum, any good post gets interrupted as crap.

When I was ten, I was forced to leave civilisation and live in exile in the colonies alongside the descendants of nefarious convicts.
I had my issues in my late teens, due no doubt to that massive culture shock, but learned from them and am now a productive member of society.

England turned out to be the shallow end of the gene pool......

How’s that different. Quarantine breach is a quarantine breach
Rubbish they all got a warning. However Stack breached a 2nd time. That's why he ended in custody.

“There’s players here that are guttered, absolutely guttered about what’s happened because they’ve been dragged into something that is so against the grain of their own ethos and the club ethos. - Jack Reiwoldt speaking on the first Stack, CCJ breach.

"Sydney must face the consequences of his actions like everyone in life."
-Jack Reiwoldt on Stacks second breach and arrest.

Lol, so true.

You should checkout the Tiger version in the "Corner Hotel" with Mike Moore, Marty Di Stasio, the effervescent Brooke Vandenberg, and the one time good bloke now insufferable Paul Daniel ruling the roost.

So cringeworthy its hilarious.

Jack also had some other words regarding the situation Sydney has found himself in and yes, while expressing disappointment in the behaviour there was nothing but support for the person.

WE’RE NOT GIVING UP ON SYDNEY STACK’

Troubled Tiger Sydney Stack’s impending court case and his hope of being back in Melbourne soon are Richmond’s highest priority, star forward Jack Riewoldt says.

Riewoldt said Stack’s alleged actions in Perth and subsequent predicament were “disappointing” but that the Tigers were prepared for a bumpy ride when they signed in early 2019.

“We expected we were going to have some small issues with him,” he said.

“When you take on a young man like Sydney, who hasn’t been afforded a lot of the luxuries that a lot of Australian children grow with, you know it’s going to be a project, so we’re not going to give up on Sydney Stack.

“He’s a young man who has got a lot of issues. He’s got a lot of potential but most importantly now, we put the football side of things to one side and we actually want to continue to grow him as a young man.

“He’s got some fantastic traits and, unfortunately, he found himself in a situation which was against the law and certainly the wrong thing to do, but we’re not going to give up on Sydney Stack.

“We’re going to continue to turn him into a Richmond man and continue to instil values in him that we believe in and hopefully turn him into the person we believe he can come.”

Riewoldt declined to give his opinion on whether Stack deserved to be placed behind bars, but said the WA Government was consistently strong on its hard border and the consequences of breaking the law.

“If you break the rules, you serve the consequences and deal with the penalties, as is the case in every decision you make in life,” he said.
“Sydney’s done that, the club’s been able to get him out on bail and we look forward to getting him back in front of the group and getting him back into our culture.”

Nicely cherrypicked

Just goes to show how both sides can so call "cherry pick"

Doesn't change the fact Reiwoldt made those particular comments, comments that have been conveniently ignored by Sydney supporters

Jacks statement was on behalf of the club and naturally he had to show public support, but his other comments ballanced it out in my opinion.

When he first returned to WA before returning to Melbourne.

Where? When? I’ve just read 4 different articles and none of them mention another Covid breach. Just this one and the AFL breach. I’ve read people saying this was his second breach but I can’t find the first one. I’ll keep searching but feel free to post it if you find it before me.
Not saying it didn’t happen I can’t find anything to say that it did

Spot on. It was when he went to his grandfathers funeral.

Not sure why the media keep insisting this current breach in Dec was when he came for the funeral.
The funeral in September not November/December as was alluded

Its already been mentioned and the screen shot of the media posted in this thread.

Stack legal aid council submitted this information to the judge on the first hearing when he was ordered to quarantine in Hakea

Everyone has their own opinions and currently in the country we live in we have the right to not only have those particular opinions but also express them, however the simple fact is they are just opinions, neither right nor wrong, simply opinions. As with all issues some opinions are stronger than others and can be coloured by our own culture, circumstances, age, upbringing, experiences, fears, and emotions on any given day.

We choose how we respond to difficult situations and regardless of any mitigating factors it is still our choice. The difference lies in how much education, experience, knowledge of options, support, and cultural expectation has shaped our lives to allow the response to flow.

This quote from Jack, “He’s a young man who has got a lot of issues. He’s got a lot of potential but most importantly now, we put the football side of things to one side and we actually want to continue to grow him as a young man.", epitomises to me what the RFC is all about (plus the premierships) and reinforces my opinion that along with cherries being a wonderful thing to pick, supporting the person even when disappointed in their actions is something compassionate, caring, mature societies may find beneficial.

Why does everything come down to sides with you..... I figure we are all the same side, just with different perspectives on different frames of reference. Many of us here advocated more tolerance but for the most part also get that a few people here just want him penalised and/or pissed off - thankfully the Club will determine that better than all of us. I suspect that is something we can all agree on. Teammate comments to date indicate that they think more like the many here. Only time will tell. It could also be that the few get that right. I suspect we have quite a while to wait to know yet.

No Box070, the media aren't covering up anything.

Where this official other breach? Can’t find it anywhere. Was he arrested, warned, chastised? Told hey bud you can’t be doing that? This is a serious question. If this was his second “major” breach there would be mentions of it? Every article I have read which is 7 or 8 in the past hour not one of them mention this other breach.
I’m not saying it didn’t happen and I am happy to concede it did. I just find it highly unusual the over sensationalised media hasn’t mentioned it in any of the articles written
