people have been saying stack should get off because the wa laws are stupid, he's indigenous, hes young, etc

whats your excuse today for him?

here is the truth. you and everyone else want him off because of who he plays for. if it was toby green in the same situation, you would all be lol'ing and saying he got his just deserts. you're a pack of hypocrites

I'll let Ancient do his best in response to this, but it is churlish of you suggest you know how I and others would treat Toby Greene any differently. Perhaps the passion might not be there - but changing the person changes nothing! I'd be as supportive of you FFS!

just spotted VB_longneck on the way to the airport to pick up Stacky

Ned you are off track. I'm not going to get into name calling.

In answer to your next short paragraph, no, I don't expect anything - I worry about what I can control and I can't control anyone other than myself. I may have some influence with select people, but I control no one, especially anyone in Victoria in regards Victorian laws.

When I follow the rules of others, it's called compliance. I may not be as worldly as you, but I have managed to be compliant in 6 or 7 countries other than my beloved Australia. It does not have to come from a place of respect for each and every law there - USA has some shocking laws, just an acceptance that if I don't comply there will be consequences. There are laws I do not respect, I'll but am willing to comply. You are generally a good poster so I'm surprised you are not across this distinction.

i loathe people who think the world has to comply to their world view

reality is we have our views here in victoria, and they are not even common across australia. the notion that everyone has to do what we do or they are wrong is insulting to everyone else on the planet

and it is respect. you dont have to go to the usa. if you wont respect their laws - DONT GO. i deliberately declined work opportunities in the gulf states because i knew what it would mean for my wife. their laws imo are wrong, but its their laws. i couldnt in good faith live under them, so i show them the respect of not pretending i will.

you want wa laws stopped because you think they are stupid. do you think wa people get the same right to ignore victorian laws they think are stupid?

ive been on forums since the 90's. ive seen people enraged with oppo players breaking the law, and then plead for leniency when our guys **** up. the song is an old one, and stack is just the latest verse

now *this* is a solution!

'systematically breaking lockdown rules', sounds like someone we know..

Put a bunk bed underneath JDS, Syd can breath in the history, be imbued with the spirit of our great club...and stay out of trouble!

You loathe a lot of people then Ned. That's your right, however sad.

No, you still appear to miss my point or ignoring it. I wanted to go to the US - and I didn't have a complete overview of their laws before going, which vary from state to state anyway. How can you respect what you still don't even know or understand? But I was prepared to comply with the laws as and when I discovered them, because there were consequences if I didn't. Commonsense! I could survive in good faith under them and it didn't matter the smallest of zots that I held a healthy disrespect for more than one of them. I even discussed it with some Yanks and a few even agreed with me - for example, not giving small amounts of money to people who performed small entertaining acts on the NY subway. If I gave something I broke the law Ned! You gonna get me banned now that I held no respect for that law? However, if I was sighted by a transit police officer, I would probably have been warned. In Australia we have street performers and it's no crime to drop a buck in their guitar case, in NY they need to be mobile to be a chance to avoid detection and eke out a meager survival. But to give was a crime........ go figure!

I never said I wanted WA laws stopped. Again stop being so churlish. I do think Stacky was harshly treated by the transience of the WA laws in regards Covid19. These would even cause a few others to make not dissimilar mistakes if they were unfortunate enough to find themselves in a similar position. There are people on the same day that travelled direct from Melbourne to Perth who were not required to spend 14 days in isolation, however there were some who had an enforced stop in Adelaide for a bit over an hour and were consequently required to quarantine in a single room for 14 days. I don't respect that. It lacks commonsense, and should be a mitigating circumstance come sentencing. There are people more adept, more educated, more upwardly mobile who have had to face similar sets of circumstances and failed the compliance test, but have not had to be in jail for 20 days. Now that's my thinking (and hundreds on heretoo it would seem) but a handful of stodgy types seem to want to see Stacky have the book and more thrown at him.

You are welcome to have the last word - I don't need it. We've covered the point of compliance vs respect more than adequately I think. Go Tiges!

Nah, your just bring pig headed about it. No one expected nor wanted him to get off scott free, punishment was expected but I among many others are saying that jail was too harsh for what he did.
if he was jailed to guarantee a 14 day quarantine compliance, I can accept that

If you wonder why some of us older posters don't participate on the board or in some threads like we used to, this thread pretty much sums it up. Open baiting of posters is pretty poor. Just because people have a differing of views doesn't mean they should be ostracised. I thought we were an inclusive club ;) Have a great day everyone.

you didnt, but plenty here were saying Stack should get off BECAUSE 1) he didnt know, 2) the laws are too hard to understand, and 3) the laws are harsh. My point has always been "so what", because stack chose to go there, and then chose to not be over the biggest issue in the nation or chose to ignore them. Its a harsh law, but no more harsh on stack than it was anyone else.

thats when you jumped in claiming that wa had no right to make these laws because the feds should force them to change.

your final post danced around the issue, but you finally acknowledged you do respect and obey overseas laws even when you disagree with them

and for the record, dont give a shit about last word because i dont post here that often any more since it became a trump board. youre not one, but why the **** would i give two shits what some trumpian flog thinks about me?

so what sanction then? remember people are getting five figure fines who dont have the income of an afl footballer AND who are WA residents.

Mate, you're a great poster. It's a pity you feel this way.

Not sure Ned but jail for what he did was crazy, unless as I said it was to ensure he quarantined

Think you will probably find it was the primary concern initially - police probably got a whole bunch changing stories when issuing the Move On notice so perhaps easier to remand him in isolation initially - moved to Hakea prison to re-serve his isolation - and his legal rep could not get to speak with him - which sounds bizarre so further remanded again in Hakea Prison until Jan 6th. Had to seek bail through the Supreme Court. It's all in this thread. Still think he was terribly unfortunate - others are more unyielding - whatever - doesn't change anything. Stacky or someone else chose a really bad flight for him to be on.

And you may be completely right in regard to Stack, time will tell. I would like to get him back to the normality of life outside Covid before Richmond make that decision is all I have said all along. Extenuating circumstances, it has not been a good year, one last chance. I think that is fair.
I does not matters if we think he should get another chance or not. The club will decide and if we keep him then I like all diehard supporters will wish him the best and cheer him on.

The initial jailing was to ensure he fulfilled his quarantine order which he was told to restart and then due to the closure of the courts (Xmas)his arraignment was not until the new year. He is yet to be officially sentenced in respect to the offence. Also his legal council did not request bail at that time.

Mods just cleaned the thread up again as i was baited by a usual suspect. It’s not the mods fault some people can’t help themselves. I feel sorry for them and the shit they deal with.
