If you'd rather I go, I'll go, no issue with that.

I'm just passing on info that might be of interest.

I'm not here in the thread gloating, I actually like Stack and his story, and wish him the best.

Has nothing to do with the result last week.
You can’t lurk like/troll this board and expect everyone to forget that when you all of a sudden decide you want to have a serious conversation.

I hope he stays, I really do but you sort of get a sense of where this is heading.

Agree, this will be but a straw on the camel's back if he goes. When he goes it will have much more football relevance than anything else.

The cost to AFL of running the AFLW is 20 million per year. That is a pittance given lions, suns, saints and gws all received around that amount from the afl last year.

And it doesn’t even touch on the fact that clubs with aflw teams have all experienced increased membership and sponsorship dollars due to their women’s programs.

Women’s football is simply core business for the AFL now and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

well you have to ask, what is more important?
Do we lose a few melbourne teams forever? merge them even?
Do we disband any interstate teams that cant pay their way?
Do we disband the womans league?

Something has to give if our economy goes where some are predicting.
If the ALF want to keep the woman league (which is rubbish --and I like womans sport BTW) at the expense our of mens team then there are always other sports to watch.

Just reading between the lines, Stack Manager coming out, I'm sure Stacks already spoken to him it's all about saving face.
I think I’ll wait till I’ve heard Stack speak for himself about himself before I judge him.

The manager is on the same page as the aflpa I don’t know if it’s the best idea but it’s not Stack saying it

Imagine the outcry of getting rid of the AFLW team before getting rid of the VFL program.

This already after getting rid of the VFLW program last week.

Current controversies would pale in comparison to Richmond axing their womens program to preserve their mens ressies.

would agree on that!!

I don’t think its at the expense of the men’s vfl, they are changing it nationally and doin the same with the women’s league’s

Harley Bennell was literally on the front page of a major newspaper snorting coke as just one of his manny indiscretions yet people are acting like these two players should be drawn an quartered

Exactly. I doubt anything will be done on a cut and run basis. But things are going to be changed up right across the board. Never has CVP analysis been so necessary!

Mate we have been in a technical recession for about the past year. GDP growth per capita has been negative since about Q1 2019 whilst our GDP growth has been positive over the same period. Effectively we were not in a recession due to immigration. We havent had one for about 30ish years and we are about to hit a very cold winter with this one.
This is pretty much spot on...hope we all get to the other side safely :)

He clashed with BT over it. He was sympathetic and said he felt sorry for them because they’re under heaps of pressure and cop a lot of criticism. He acknowledged it was a big mistake but said he feels for them. Then BT went hard on them. Was on CH7 and came up on Twitter.
You realize they have production meetings and decide who will argue which side then fill up the airwaves with debate on this stuff? Who knows what they really think.

They wouldn't let a heavily pregnant mother in for emergency surgery and she sadly lost a twin because of the delay, and made a woman who was released from a sydney hospital after brain surgury quarantine in a small 1 room hotel with no propper facilities, but it was OK to let all the AFL execs and families to fly straight in and lounge around a pool and play golf in quarantine. Joke government

Yep but in saying that. The premier put the state at risk by letting the AFL in but once they've been in there for many weeks and are tested, the risk is over so there's no point grandstanding because players broke an AFL rule designed to protect the AFL from the general public.

Well the producer must’ve told Carey to talk us up at every opportunity he can for the past four years because the guy refuses to say a bad word about us.

Afl are pretty aggressive
Wouldn’t surprise me if they reduced playing numbers and tried to get more teams off the ground.

I was hoping they’d bring back the u19’s

When there is community transmission going on (as there has been at low levels in QLD) players exposing themselves to the general public in a non-approved venue which doesn't apply covid-safe protocols is very much the AFL and the state government's business, IMO.

If they had gone back to our hub after that night out (especially if their breach didn't get discovered straight away) I think there's a solid chance the state CMO would have had little choice but to put our whole squad into quarantine all over again, which would have been a disaster for all concerned on a number of levels.

It's definitely the AFL's business for sure. They put the entire season at risk by doing what they did. The players posed no additional risk to the general public or venue, in fact they posed a lesser risk than every other patron and that's why it's none of the governments business. Except to try win political points by grandstanding. Again, we are not talking about players skipping out on quarantine. If it was Houli a week ago or Shane Edwards then you'd basically have to pretty much call the season. It wasn't.

I thought they (the AFL) announced a change to the TAC Cup system for 2021 that included U17 and U19 - could be wrong, and perhaps it was supposition in an article I read.

When you say 'off the ground' do you mean 'started' or do you really mean get then off........

where is TigerImposter? Do I still have him on ignore?

Surely not!!!! I don't agree with TI on some stuff but he is a really fascinating Tiger bloke and a great family man!!!!!
